Does anyone do them anymore?

Ice Mine is empty 99% of the time. Absolutely nobody does Big Dig. Minefield you may see a few players.

So why don't you play them? Too long? Too stupid? Too buggy?

Lack of population in the fleet actions is what keeps me away, try to pop in every once and awhile, but they almost always seem to be empty

Low population is the key sadly. You dont queue for them so you pop in, waste an hour doing the easy bit solo then you find it impossible to prgress. Leaving you fed up for life.

Conversly, there are always people in the Borg open instance. Because you COULD solo it, just that it is hard. Well not so much hard as time consuming. In fact the borg instance is a good example of why open pvp would work for some people.

I would love to do more of these and would gladly join anyone eles forming a team to do this regularly.

I don't do the big dig for the simple fact even with a group of 4 (which is more than adequate in the ice mining, done it with just three most times I've done it just by using the NPC canons to my advantage. And you can pretty much do the space one solo) it's so completely time consuming since as soon as you've cleared out one spot they've respawned and you're surrounded, dead and then spawned in a really bad place since you have to fight through a lot of things to get even remotely close to any of the map objectives. The worst part is having to put the force fields on the artefacts since you spend so long fighting at the base of the pyramid EVERY TIME you have to go up because they respawn so often and they'll chase you down the otherside of the pyramid where you'll be ganked by more NPC's.
