Might the above windows on the underside of this Gorn vessel be the windows Klingons will supposedly be getting? Its been a long time, using those TOS Fed windows...we got a new skin (vibrant green) and now all we need is to get rid of those nasty white windows. I think the above windows look great.
But the patch notes note that there will be new ship skins for KDF out with the new patch. Note that this doesn't mean new costumes (bummer).
From Tribble (that got that update, too), it looks like it's a new material to select. Unfortuantely I couldn't compare Tribble and Holodeck materials, but it looked to me as if the new materials work better to get some type of "feather" patterns on BoPs - but it could have been that the Commander level BoP is just better in that regard then the B'Rel.
Well at least Tribble now has three visual versions of the T3 Battlecruiser (D7, K't'inga, K't'inga refit)
The K't'inga is reworked and has the proper main hull and impulse engines, even though it lacks the rear torpedo launcher.
The D7 look has also been adjusted so that the top side of the wings is now smooth while the
pattern is now only present on the K't'inga version.
The T2 BoP and the K'Tanco have slightly differenty lit torpedo launchers now, they are red and yellow
and I think it looks very good.
The materials are still somewhat buggy, for example the K'tanco is now stuck with one material (a dark green) and when I change it only the command section changes colour, while the rest stays green.
The same applys to the T2 BoP, where only the lower part of the rear changes colour while the rest stays dark green.
But there are improvements coming, even though we may not be entirely aware of them yet.
*EDIT*
based on the release notes for today it would appear that at least the updated K't'inga options will come to the holodeck server
Around 2-3 months ago the devs did mention we would be getting at least one new window set for the Klingon faction, so im just assuming. The ones in the pic I posted look nice though, Klingon ship windows should not be white like they are now.
I'm not sure if they should be yellow, either. Wouldn't they be red, or at least orange? Y'know, like our bridges.
The windows on the screenshots would fit perfectly to the Orion or Gorn ships, though.
I dunno, on certain Klingon starbases in game...like Ganalda..those have yellow windows. In the shows, the windows were often seen white, but more smaller and square compared to the Fed ones. I dont like the idea of red windows, thats just too much with the glowing red nacelles and impulse engine and all.
I only remember the red bridge window from TMP, I've never actually noticed other windows on Klingon ships in the shows.
Perhaps yellow isn't wrong after all. I've just taken a look at the images we have from Qo'noS, and although it is hard to tell they appeared to be yellow there as well.
Initially I was just going by the interiors - after all, we should assume that windows would reflect the dominant color of the room they are part of, and we know what colors the Klingons prefer. You have a point in pointing out the "monotony" though...
Based on the issues they had with the D4 on Enterprise that was never used I guess
it has something to do with the fact that red windows are less visible and therefore reflect
the size of the ship less faithfully.
But yes they should actually be reddish to make any sense, at least on the K't'inga.
The BoP in Star Trek 3 had very little red if you remember how different the bridge-set was.
And we still need twice the number of windows on the K't'inga, they're currently made for giants.:)
