How exactly am I supposed to complete this mission? Apparently I was detected and I am supposed to beat a miranda. My 1 phaser does absolutely nothing to it's shields and I need to kill it ( and 2 others...).
So whats the strategy here, or just I just drop and and restart and try not to get caught? If thats the case, how do you not get caught because there's all those runabouts flying around.
Although many ships aggro, only ONE ship per beacon will aggro per beacon. Once it aggros, you get in behind the Miranda (easy to do with a shuttle) and then lower your speed and it won't be able to outturn you. The rear shield on a Miranda is VERY weak. Spam the phaser and single torp on the shuttle into the rear shields and it goes down fast.
One word of warning- don't let the Miranda drag you into the main base area, it will aggro other ships- draw it away from the base first before attacking.
This mission is incredibly easy. Just shoot the thing. There does not appear to be any trick, rhyme or reason to getting detected, though.
A little tip which makes this incredibly easy, the runabout you get has a 360* firing arc for both its phaser and torpedoes. So pound one side, fly around on autofire if you want, you don't have to worry about your facing, just stay on one side of the Miranda and it will die quickly.
I have no idea why it was so hard when I tried the first time. Even after turning it down to easy, full power to weapons, the shields would NOT go down. Maybe start wearing down a little, then regen.
Today on Advanced I had no problem whatsoever. Weird.
I've only run it once, but I was only aggrod when there was a single cruiser near the beacon. The shuttles and runabouts never aggrod. But if there were two cruisers near the beacon, they did not aggro. Which is good, because the idea of trying to tank two cruisers in a runabout had me gritting my teeth before each scan.
where do i find this mission ? i own a runabout and i hoped since it got it, to fly a mission with it.

Simply, as fed you don't. As kling the runabout is part of a mission and you don't get to keep it sadly.
Its the Second Star to teh right mission which a KDF gets access to at commander 1 rank.
Best advice is once you engage an aggressive ship lead it away from the rest of the ships at the base. While it is hard too imagine a runabout can take out a cruiser, 1 on 1 they go down pretty easy.
its really quite simple, switch power to weapons and kill the miranda's. Its quite possible to do.
Funny you should mention that. I went back on my klink and did this mission as a BG...yea, i switched all power to weapons, and pretty much took them down faster than one could say frakk!!!!....lol
