I originally posted this in the carrier forum, but the warning should probably go out to all Klingon players:
DO NOT WASTE YOUR SHIP TOKEN ON THE KAR'FI.
You get one token when you hit LG1 (level 51), and it's good for a single level 51 ship. As of Season 2.0 launch, there is only one such ship available, the Kar'Fi battle carrier. Do NOT waste your time with this ship. Several of us have been trying to create a viable role or build for this ship for the past week on Tribble, and every single attempt, test, and encounter ends with the same conclusion: the Kar'Fi is a terribly designed ship with no purpose and no ability to carry out its mission.
plus I don't remember anybody asking for a new carrier, especially since the current one blows, no idea the idiot that went " people don't like this carrier, they say it's bad, so let's make a worse one"

Feds did ask for their carriers.....i would give them this one
I figure most forum users already know this, and now the non-forum users will be stuck with it.
That said, it seems as if new ships (refits) will be added soon to the Klingon faction, and Cryptic is aware that Klingons might have already used their tokens since they got only one choice then...
Just a question:what is the Kar'Fis special ability?(new fed escort gets cloak, science ship 30 sec invulnerability, new fed cruiser gets saucer separation).

The Kar'Fi is not a refit, so it doesn't get a special ability in that sense. It gets new types of fighters/frigates to deploy, though.

Well,I dont care that it is a refit or not,the fact is that all 3 new federation ships will get special abilities. So basically:every new ship gets a strong special ability, except the klingon ship(and we get just 1 ship, the feds get 3).

Thats just cool.
A unique special ability like... cloak?
Otherwise, you seem very very late to the party. The fact that Klingons get only 1 ship and the Federation gets 3 has not gone unnoticed by some people. Surprisingly for some, it didn't even go unnoticed by Cryptic!
Look forward to Klingon refits and Orion/Gorn/Naucassian ships over the next months.

I knew that klingons will get just 1 new ship and I assumed that it has a special ability too,I just didnt know what is it.
On a serious note, Edge is bang on the money, the ships not worth wasting the token on.
Now don't get me wrong visually I love this ship, I know it's not everyones cup of tea, and the idea behind the deployables is an excellent one but it's failed completely to live up to it's promise.
To anyone who still wants to try this ship, please, please do yourselves a favour and try it on Tribble first.

It's really too bad for the Kar'Fi that there wasn't another Tribble build and another week of testing. But I guess we will see more changes.
Going by some comments over the time, several people at Cryptic, but particularly dstahl, really liked the Fek'irhi and their ships, which probably lead to the Kar'Fi becoming a player ship in the first place. So I figure there is a strong desire to make it work eventually - but not strong enough to halt the season 2 release.
Considering that Cryptic also wants to add more Klingon ships, they will have to find a solution for the token situation on the Klingon side anyway. Let's hope it's a good one not involing to may QQs and C-Store points.
Well, there -is- a market for the Kar'Fi. It would go great to people who want an uncloakable Raptor with the BO slots and weapons of a Voquv with the turn rate of a slightly off balanced Neghvar. And half the hangar of a Voquv too. I mean if that's what you want, have a blast, sonny.

I'm sure they won't mind; force Klingons to play longer to grind 500 Emblems for a new refit released later down the road (thus staving off 'No Klingons play anymore!' issues), or having even more people buy a new token from the C-Store.
Of course, that's just my rampant pessimism about the C-Store and the way the refits are purchased.
I was about to come to this forum and post this exact same advice.
BE SMART KLINGONS, DON'T TAKE THIS PIECE OF TRIBBLE.
500 Emblems is a lot, particularly if you expect to upgrade gear as well. Patience for a better deal will pay off. This ship was poorly designed and Cryptic is too proud to admit their TRIBBLE up, but not all Klingon ships will be as poorly designed. Cryptic has said they are looking into more ship options for us - wait for the better prize.
Anybody else think IF they add new klink ships they will use q different token that we will have to grind for or buy, and our aced tokens will be worthless ( even if we don't use it as the new carrier is worthless also)
I have yet to try it in PvP. In PvE it did very well. I dropped in consoles to buff turn and hull, and treated it like a beam boat - target fighters on one ship while I took the other. I just wish I could drop those fighters in my regular carrier.

Actually the Kar'fi gets one more Fore weapon slot, and the BO slots are completely different.
VoQuv-Cmdr Sci, LtC Tac, LtC Eng, Lt Sci
Kar'Fi-Cmdr Sci, Cmdr Tac, Ens Sci, Lt Eng
Also the Kar'Fi can only launch it's S'kul fighters (where the VoQuv gets a choice of 4 different deployables-Energy siphons, Shield repair drones, To'Duj fighters, and BoP's).
Trading the Lt Sci and LtC Eng BO abilities for more pew-pew made me feel a bit squishy. I play Science, so i had to switch a lot of BO's to go from a more defensive build to a more aggressive one. I'd probably like it more if i was Tac, but i'm not. Overall i don't feel the trade-offs are worth it, and would have liked it more if they went with a Cmdr Eng BO slot than a Cmdr Tac slot, just to increase durability.
"You are going to see new ships ,such as the Nebula and Excelsior refits for the Federation, and the VorCha, D7 and Berel refits for the Klingons."
So no raptor refit it seems, strange that 2 cuisers would be chosen, but no matter what they are going to give us when they eventually release them theres no way im risking my 1 free token on the flying fish.

Hey, we do have some dedicated Carrier Captains in the KDF. We have asked for a new Carrier or at least a build of the current Vo'Quv and its interface/control model.
What many of us wanted is the exact opposite of what we got though. We've wanted a Carrier that was more Carrier and less Cruiser. We want more deployables, more control over deployables, different BO slots and fewer weapon slots.
Instead, we got a Cruiser with torpedoes flown by pilots...yay:mad:
The Frigate seems interesting, i havent heard much about it...but what the fruit!...we only get one!

The Kar'Fi design is not finished yet. I am reasonably certain it will see more changes. It seems a little like a small pet thing from dstahl, considering that when he first talked about the Fek'irhi (spelling?), he mentioned he'd love to fly one of their ships. I don't think it was his intention he'd be the only one to fly it.

I don't think dstahl has a Klingon CDR, much less Vice Admiral, so he won't be flying this ship anytime soon.
How many Cryptic employees have a Fed RA? How many have a BG? The only real question is whether the number of BGs is greater than 0.
It's not that bad. I've been fiddling with it. It's a more agile carrier that has slightly more emphasis on engineering rather than science that looks sweet. Sure it only has a single bay. but tbh. how much damage do you fighters do anyway?

Program or QA much? Just a case of hitting a couple of keys, and BOOM baby, they got a toon for whatever level they need. Just a case of editing the db.

Wait, Engineering? What ship are you talking about? If the Kar'Fi had more than a single Engineering Lieutenant, it wouldn't be NEARLY as screwed up as it is now.

A PONY!!!!!!

It seemed decent, in concept...
Any reason why it fails so hard (I'm not on Tribble, so I haven't even seen it beyond it's specs yet)?
