I have been wondering this for a while, and now I just have to ask.

Why are the Klingon Star Cluster systems names so lllllllooooonnnnngggggg?

I encountered a system called "Hovtay' chIS Kavrot qlj nLH SochmaH vagh" why not simply call it "Hovtay?"

Maybe they use an English to Klingon translator, for immersion purposes, and that's really just North Boston?

They can't possibly use systems with fewer than twenty characters because then the name generation would be limited. You'd be telling your friend about how you killed some Unikunians on a planet in the Hovtay system, and he'd be like "WTF!? I Killed ROMULANS on an ASTEROID BASE in the Hovtay system!"

Your immersion would be shattered. You'd delete your character, cancel your subscription, reformat your hard drive, destroy all trek-related media in your home, lose all interest in real-world astronomy and space travel, and generally give up on life.

Is... that not why we're here?

Well if I remember correctly the names for Fed side random systems are not that long, usually they are only 2 to 3 words long with some roman numerals after.
