The Great Klingon Houses

I posted this down in Tribble, but thought it might be better to put it here.

As we know the Fleet’s on the Klingon side are referred to as Houses, and that there are two major Houses that are fighting each other, the House of Martok and the House of Duras. In fact the first, rank wise, Klingon mission is dealing with this conflict..

Well I, as well as others in my House, were wondering if we would be able to pledge ourselves to one of these Great Houses. And if so if this would have some kind of effect in game.

Such as; a Discount at certain vendors, getting places on the appropriate side in KvK PvP, or even which missions you get.

Got to say I was hoping for a bit more feedback.

And my ideas was that the House of Martok and the House of Duras were the two dominant houses, which fits seeing as in KvK PvP you are placed on either Duras of Martok.

And as such your "House" would be siding with either one.

When they popped the PVP faction thing on us before beta, one of their spins was that you were going to join one of the houses and earn honor and advance. What we ended up getting was Klingon vs. Klingon. During the period we gave them a lot of feedback on the type of missions that the houses could offer so that you could rank up. The missions would take place as pve and pvp against Federation, old enemies, and rival houses. Each rank earned would confer a title/new costume piece. The amount of feedback Cryptic received numbered in the thousands, we had multiple threads going over 100 pages but Cryptic didn’t implement any of it. It’s not like they had the time, what Klingons had access to which was very little was brought over from the Federation. We even had Spock congratulating us when we leveled. If you want to do some digging you could probably find the threads in the archives.

The House of Mogh no longer exists, as far as I know. With Worfs brother "brainwashed", and Worf becoming part of house Martok, the house is dead, I think.

I figure one practical problem for now is that the game does not really set you a fixed house. If it did, the first 2 new PvE missions might be odd. (Would a house sworn loyality to the house of Duras help house Martok? Maybe if J'mpok demands it...)

It could turn KvK into "DvM" - with the two major houses being basically two Klingon factions.

Some people (I among them) would like to see more joint missions between KLingons and Federation where both sides can team together. But I wouldn't want to remove KvF hostilities necessarily (it's the only "reasonable" form of PvP we have, not just wargames.). Maybe a Klingon civil war and Klingon characters pledging loyality to one fo the two sides might be a way to do it. The Duras faction wants to continue the war with the Federation, the Martok faction wants to end it...

There have been a lot of ideas for expanding the House system for the game; and like some have said here the ability to swear allegiance to the House of Martok or Duras has been thrown around before.

Other ideas have also been suggested, like one that I posted a while ago: Here

Personally I like the idea of being able to ally myself with Martok or Duras (personally I would rather spill the blood of all members of the House of Duras but that's just me :D); but who knows what the devs have planned for the future.

I fully support further expanion of the Great Houses into game features.

I'd like to see players given an apportunity to Support one of the 3 Houses:
    J'empok.
    Duras.
    Martok.

Each sub faction should be given a political viewpoint which the players can subscribe too.
J'mpok is the hardline faction, supports the war and the current policies.
Duras the evil faction who will do anything to gain power of the Empire.
Martok loyal faction but would prefer the end of the War with the Federation.

Every 2 weeks allow the players to cast a vote on who they support.
Also count the amount of Honor gained in the same time period per sub-faction.
Show the results in % for Support amongst the warriors.
Then another result for the amount of honor gained.

Reward the subscribers to the winning faction(s) after the time periods ends.
    Such rewards could include:
    Minor Buffs.
    Cheaper items to purchase etc.

NPC's could be written to react to you. If you are a Duras supporter on Qonos (which is controlled by J'mpok faction) you might get insulted etc.
Introduction of some form of Internal KDF factions and features would certainly bring the KDF more alive and Star Trekish :)

I thought J'mpok is House Duras?

I had the same though, But then I remembered, Ja’rod is the son of Lursa and the head of House Duras. Though J'mpok is supported by the House of Duras.
