I like to listen to epic music while playing. I got myself the soundtrack for Mass Effect 2 and Abrams' Star Trek and those work really well. Unfortunately I of course can't listen to those all the time because as awesome as those soundtracks are, they'd still get boring.
So... what do you guys listen to while nuking borg? Any ideas on how to appropriately expand my epic soundtrack? It should kind of fit Star Trek, I don't really want to be listening to Rammstein (although that wouldn't be un-awesome). I just am currently having trouble thinking of other soundtracks that would fit.
In addition, I sometimes pop in the 1988 Star Trek Sound Effects CD, ccasional Airwolf Theme, Knight Rider Theme and End Credits, as well as a mix of soundtracks from the 11 movies, notably TMP, TWoK, TUC, GEN, and ST:XI.
I tested Persona, really liked those games. They do have good soundtracks. Also, thanks for reminding me of Posthumus, that is nice epic music.
As for the final fantasy suggestion. I think Final Fantasy games are overrated interactive movies. Out of politeness I will no longer comment on FF. But thank you for the suggestion.

Oh, I entirely agree with you. The music is genuinely quite catchy though.
Fair enough. I still conjures up uncomfortable images of androgynous protagonists.
Too true man, too true. Only really liked FF8, aside from the main character, and the only piece of music that stuck from that game series at least for me was the intro from 8.
Suggestions from off my own playlist:
Path- Apocalyptica An instrumental so epic that if I knew the end of the world was coming I'd time this to play simultaneously so I could go out embarrassing the horror.
Starship Troopers: Combat Anthem. By far the best piece of "epic stuff going down" music I have ever heard from a movie, though this cut is the extended version from the 2005 game. I beat the heck out of this track when doing fleet actions, STF's or anything that eventually ends with me beaming in.
Shirly, Call of Duty 4: OST This was the track played during the bonus mission at the end of the game. Might I add *DING DONG* GET DOOOOOOOOWNN!!! HULL BRRRRREEEAAAACCHHH!!!"
Flame, Witch Hunter Robin: OST One of the songs I got on this huge soundtrack set from the collectors edition box set. I play this one quite frequently in games... it's also my "Get through this traffic jam by driving my SUV like it's an F-18" track Oh, and I didn't feel like digging through the depths of YouTube for it, but that entire soundtrack was absolutely amazing, also for combat I recommend: Surprise Attack, Kyrie.
A-Team Original Theme. Ground missions only for this one. Don't knock it until you try it, played GTA4:TLAD with this earlier and had the game go into a slow mo jump with cop cars flying behind me everywhere like confetti as we all hit a jump while I stole a prison bus in this one mission (fans of the new movie will find the humor here)
Starcraft 2 Terran Theme This link's video has annotations leading to part 2 as well as the other faction's music. All of the above being good.
Remedy - Cold And because I wouldn't be a Cold Army Soldier if I didn't post a link to one of their songs off my playlist for space combat, I bring you this.
I usually listen to something that correlates to what I am doing..
If I am exploring it is classical music...
If it is ground combat then It's usually Heavy metal
If it is spcae combat it is usually nasty big, loud honking classical music..
i have too many to post here, so I won't strain your eyes...lol

Cadence to Arms (Scotland the Brave) Dropkick Murphey's Starts of for like 10 seconds in the traditional bagpipe then has an entire hard rock band join in. This one may be just a personal taste, but I find it awesome.

Ghostbusters Theme, Metal Version This being just for fun on my list, but it has its usefulness.

Mars Bringer of War - Gustav Holst Probably the most intense piece of classical I have ever heard.
Do enjoy.
EDIT BECAUSE I NEARLY FORGOT:
Chronicles of Riddick: Credits Music. Music will speak for itself. I couldn't adequately describe it.
