Going by the latest STOKed podcast with the dstahl interview, it seems the Romulans are on hold for now to allow the Klingons to catch up to the Federation. That sounds like a good choice. There isn't really much point to a Romulan faction if it ends up as a PvP only group, too.
The only thing that make klingons unique, they now give to the blue side.
Im so dissapointed at this game, its hard to write in words.
There isnt anyting unique with the klingon side any longer. and i refuse to play on the blue side.
C-store is laughable, Feds get ships, cloak ! What do klingons get ? a targ and in future som new hair wigs.
It's going to be a bunch of cloaked ships just flying around with nothing getting done.
They introduced the Galaxy X for the fed players who lack any pvp skill.

You know, given it's a non-combat cloak (unlike the Klingon BoP cloak); what's the big deal? Seriously, it's not like they can cloak, turn on a dime (hell, there's NO Fed Cruiser that can turn worth a damn); and full impulse away. If your group has it under fire (hell one quick shot every 30 seconds); once it de-cloaks, it ain't re-cloaking.
Sorry, I just don't understand a lot of KDFplayerbase reaction and 'outrage' over this. And again, when the Romulans DO hit the playable race pool, are Klingons going to start complaining that Roms get better cloaks (which they should as they ARE the race that first had them.) Klingons didn't 'officialy' get cloaking tech until Star Trek III: The Search for Spock; and hell that cloak was detected by Kirk and Sulu staring a a spot on their viewscreen.
The alliance with the Romulans was during ToS (from the Enterprise Incident), and the Romulans were seen using D7s equipped with a Cloak, but a Klingon-crewed ship with a cloak wasn't seen until The Search for Spock.
OP Why complain. Its not like you only play Klingon. I mean you have a ferengi and a cat. Put your BG away for a rainy day, and play the real game. Everything a Klingon can do, a fed can do plus more. Its not like they will be getting any true story for a long time, and when they do its not going to be as much as the feds. So jump ship youll be happier.
Cryptic caters to the masses. Proof's in the pudding. Look Dstahl said that the Season 2 patch would be almost all about the Klingons. Have you looked at the release notes for the first layer of Season 2 they just released to Tribble? It's almost all Fed. See there are so few people playing Klingons that there is no reason to even show initial token good will to the faction.
If we use your logic Cryptic will never catch the Klingons up to the Feds because no one plays the Klingons at all. Why call it Star Trek Online? You might as well just call it Federation Online.
While Star Trek is done from a Federation point of view it was and still is built around strange new worlds with new life and new civilizations. To some degree most MMOs thrive on inter-faction rivalry and the drama it creates. Lose the Klings and you lose a facet that makes the game fascinating.
I started to roll Klings to find out if any of their arguments had validity and as a matter of principle, (see previous paragraph). I was never a PvPer till I picked up this game. I become a little more of a PvPer every time I roll any of my Klings.
The problem Fed side is that it is almost all PvE when PvE offers no real challenge at all. For example I can talk to someone, who does not even play STO, on the phone while I PvE. I can't do that at all when I PvP. It is that much more challenging. The parts of the brain used to visualize the conversation with the other person, who is not in the room with you and is discussing something not even related to the game, are needed to visualize strategy and tactics in a PvP match.
This is why I hope they do not give much PvE to the Klings as it will lead to the majority of Klings being as soft and chewy as many Feds in early level space combat. Still we could use crafting. We could use scanners that work on maps other than Fed maps.
We could use more kit bashing on our ships, no tier two Klingon ships have any mods at all beyond bridges and paint schemes. We could use more uniform options. Hey Paramount/CBS/Cryptic, Gene Simmons and Dave Brockie called, Kiss and Gwar want their touring costumes back! Why give us pre-order rare, (read blue), targs that do nothing more than follow us around like lost puppies? I should be able to kill and eat it in combat for some kinda Mr. Hyde like strength/hit points boost. I mean the Golden Tribble, (read: pre-order bonus Tribble, Riv), gives three boosts that last an hour to all the Feds who bought it from the C-Store...
Why is it that the Gal-X was added to the C-Store without a Klingon equivalent? Why do the Feds get dabo but not the Klings? Historically warriors and soldiers tend to love to gamble, you'd think Klings would too. With complexities like luck of the draw, well played bluffs and the risk of personal loss. Why else would poker be a favored game of tacticians? Oh yeah because most people follow Koopa's advice and roll Feddie and only some 5% chose to be different. Give the Klings something similar to Go or Othello that we can gamble on.

Klings can run amok on DS9? Well it's open to the Feds, I played dabo on my Fed main for two hours and got a million latinum that I can only use to buy halo projectors for my ship. A nice distraction but, for the time being, overall useless. Dabo is like an introverted MMO slot machine. You place bets on up to three numbers if the rings line up you win something. Now for the introverted part, no one talks! Partly because STO people seldom seem to type, unless they are in Sol spacedock or in a glitched global chat help channel, and the bets every thirty seconds block the little text people care to type.

If I read things correctly, Dabo is to be available on the neutral station (what's its name?), too.

I remember reading the name to, but I can't remember, and honestly.......who cares? It's a dumb minigame with limited rewards that people got every last one of on tribble in under an hour easily....
I love the complaints about the Gal X wrecking pvp. Way way wayyyyyy overestimating it's usefulness.
May as well drive a bus with flat tires and an 80 mm howitzer duct taped to the top for all the good it'll do ya.
I use it, but not for pvp.
And really, if you think cloaking is the only thing that makes klingons unique, then your probably not playing for the right reasons. As someone else pointed out earlier, they have alot more than just a piece of tech to make them unique.
Klingons can play Dabo at Drozana Station in Eta Eridani.
And im glad were getting a cloak Defiant. It fits my RP story.
I wish you Klingons would get some more content but do you always have to complain so much when feds get something and try to take it away from them?
Like little children in the sandbox.
Also im curious how is it going to kill PvP?
You guys win like 5 out of every 6 games.
So if we get a bit of an advantage, see it as a challange. You will still pwn us anyway if thats your worrys. lol
Somebody said that we will start griefing and hide all the match, which made me laugh because Klingons used to do that a lot when the game started.
But we could do that too now if we wanted. We could just full impulse into a corner of the map and turn on MES. You would never find us.
But do we do that? No.
It wont kill PvP. Well ... unless all Klingons quit because they now win every 4 out of 6 games.
Though In my opinion Cryptic should give the Klingons something special too though. Maybe that would make it fairer?
How about "Blind Fire" (cloak detect) for Bird of Preys and "Cannon Overload" for Neghvars (like in DS9: The Way of the Warrior)
Or something.

Was it not Einstein who made the observation that the inverse is also true? Oh the irony. Here let me spell it out, this is too delicious to trust to chance. So many of the Feds, (read: not all), complained so long and so hard about Klingon cloaking that Cryptic gave it to them.
I really like the ideas you closed your post with. Good thinking there.

They have their moments. More so before I re-speced to win but they still have their moments even after. A good Gal-X pilot is something to respect even in PvP.
I have used ramming speed to get away when I was in over my head in another MMO, I did not make that leap of logic in this game till I saw a Gal-X use it to get away from my old advanced escort. I kick myself in the TRIBBLE for not realizing it sooner, and having to have an opponent show me, but that is the truth of it.
I have my suspicions that the better Gal_X PvPers are actually Klingon BoP pilots in disguise.
I think the Gal x will get used less once people realize it is not very good. People will be ****ed they just spent $25 bucks on a ship they wont play in a week. KvK has died because feds are easier to kill than klinks.
The cloak fest is people are pansies and have no guts to fight. Easy way to get the cloak fest to stop is for one person to sacrafice and uncloak with his team ready to pounce once the other teams fires. Even FvF the to teams usually fed ball and just wait for the other team to move in. But if no one attacks first it is a defensive stare contest. Which is all lame.
As for assult maps, if crytic put them at the top of the list more would play I think. People are lazy and wont scroll down. I find them the most fun map and it is sad they do not get played more.
Story-wise the counter to cloak was better sensors and a wide firing arc of fed ships. But since cryptic has taken those mechanics out of this game and made all ships equally limited and featureless. The poor numbers and PvP will get worse.
First of all the GalaxyX is a beast if properly specced and flown by someone other than a large majority of fed players who don't even know how to assign bridge officers on the thing.Or understand the mechanics of how the cloak should be used in combat.Feds are getting cloaks we all have to live with that but u can't ignore the 2 commander lvl bridge officer slots on 3 ships which will in fact be the ships the feds will choose because not flying them would be stupid. And klingon only get 1 ship that is TRIBBLE not matter what side of the fence u find yourself sitting on.Cloaking defiants chain using CRF3 and HYT3 or BO3 for the beam users.Interpids keeping the abiltiy to become immune to all inc damage. For those that will argue Perfect shields getting nerfed. It changes to Perfect hull instead.with the soft cap on hull resists being 75% all the Armor generator needs to do is give a 25% bonus to become immune to damage. Not sure how the galaxy with saucer sep is gonna work haven't got that far in testing yet.But just from these examples no one can even try to make a justifed agruement that this is balanced in any way
