Some KDF Suggestions

Some small tidbits to help with the look and customization of the KDF.

UNIFORMS
**TOS Uniforms - Proper trousers need to come in for the uniform. No proper boots are ingame yet either. Some **pins / buttons on the upper chest are missing. Lastly, a belt with the proper buckle would round out the look of a proper TOS uniform. Also, some **artwork, possibly idea for a female TOS version.

** Nausicaan clothing from the TV shows. Need to have that rough, bandit type of look.

** Orion - I wouldn't call it "uniform" and there's barely enough to call it ample clothing. Still... I'd like to point out the skimpy Orion female stuff. It's Star Trek tradition, y'know.

** "Undiscovered Country" Items - Several things of note for new stuff. Chancellor Gorkon's coat for one. Note the uniform General Chang wears and the sash. Gorkon's daughter also wears that long coat-thingie (can't think of better word). It would be something nice for KDF females, something different. Similiar to what the guards in the back wear, **Advocate Worf also sports the uniform.

** Chancellor Azetbur sports a few things that would be good for the females, namely the "mail" hood and necklace.

** Chancellor K'mpec and High Council Members have some great coats and sashes that would be awesome to have. (K'mpec #2 for sash details)

** Female Armor: Lursa & Betor - More female uniform items. Note the KDF Logo style belt on the left.

** Traditional Klingon Gauntlets, as shown by Gen.Korrd.

** Enable use of KDF faction NPC items - Eyepatches, trenchcoats, sashes, etc. To include the Orion, Gorn, Nausicaan clothing.

SHIPS
** D-5 - Would be nice for a low tier alternative ship since it was introduced in ENT.

** PumwI' / Accuser Class - Something from the old Starfleet Command game, set in TOS/TMP era. Not Star Trek canon, but it did come from a Star Trek game, and I hope it could bring inspiration into other KDF designs outside of the Bird of Prey. This is essentially a multi-nacelled, beefed up version of the classic D7 design.

** Implement "Classic" Bird of Prey designs in all the Tiers. TV & movie BoP's share alot of similarities with scale being a bigger factor. You can make the smaller classes for lower tiers while the larger ones for higher tiers.
T1 - D-12 Class - Old BoPs, cloaks not as reliable (T1 BoPs already have no Battle Cloak)
T2 - D-13 Class - Small BoP, suitable for low Tiers. Built in large numbers. Built 2277 onwards.
T3 - B'Rel Class - "Cruiser" sized BoP. Built 2327-2359 but still in service
T4 - K'Vort - Larger BoP, you hear of them first time in TNG, I think, so it's fitting to see them pop up in the same tier as the Galaxy Class
T5 - D'Tai - Much larger BoP.

** Bird of Prey's saucer "rim" should be colored by one of the trim colors. In the movies and TV shows, it's usually been orange, red, or black.
Example 1
Example 2

** Adjustable BoP Wings - Ideally it would be nice if the wings can be toggled up or down by the player, but if they can raised or lowered only via ship customization to save time, I'd be cool with that also. TV shows and movies have usually shown them to be in the down position for attack, but TNG has instances where BoPs fired while in the up position.

** Unless it's a K'T'Inga / D7 Battlecruiser, KDF ships need to be overall green by default. A proper orange color selection would be nice as well as a color pattern to allow some of the "bird" like schemes to show.
A - Nice BoP Examples
B - Sample "Bird" BoP green-orange scheme
C - More BoP examples, 1 pic without the "Bird" feather-like color scheme
D - Vor'Cha Battlecruiser - Green would suffice also, but an overall green-blue scheme would be outstanding.
E - Classic grey K'T'Inga - For a few more details. Also note the scheme on the wings.
Possible Alternative is to make use of the "Materials" section of customization.
Material 1 - Default Hull Color - Dark Green
Material 2 - Light Green
Material 3 - Blue-Green (seen on some Vor'Cha ships)
Material 4 - Light Grey (suitable for D7/K'T'Inga ships)

** Some window selections would be nice. Yellow, White, and Blue variants and layouts would be great.

** Expand Carriers - A couple things about carriers. I'm not going to get into gameplay on it, but I'd like to suggest putting in Carriers at the other Tiers except Tier 2. Don't other Klingons find it strange that the 1 unique ship type we have is only available for Tier 5? Let me bring up some old KDF ships from other non-canon games or books that could serve as examples. They all share the same, bulky hull as the current T5 Carriers.
Tier 2 - Na Ra'den Class - Came into service in 23rd century.
Tier 3 - Mas To Gal Class - Another 23rd century ship.
Tier 4 - Komo Val Class - Another old 23rd century ship originally made as a battleship for the era. You could put a background that these old behemoths were converted for carrier usage since newer warships such as the Vor'cha and Negv'har filled the heavy ship to ship fighting better.

MISCELLANEOUS
A - Targs - The Feds have Tribbles to provide buffs. No problem in that. How about Targs that actually can do different things for KDF characters? How about implementing a breeding system and the end result will be Targs that do different things to aid in combat (not buffing). As far as the Targs that came due to various game editions, let them be unique, just like the Tribble of Borg, but otherwise, other KDF players should have access to them. Also, make them larger, like a vicious wild boar. They look like little piglets.

B - Klingon Theme Music - More stuff please. This example is from TMP.

More to come once I remember them

100% Hope they add this stuff to the game. It's just plain boring trying to customize a KDF char now... well that and it's impossible really...

Oh man, the Klingon Battle Theme from the first TOS movie was wonderful. I usually switch off the game's music and put that one on while playing my KDF. Good times :)

Oh I'm a sucker for the old Goldsmith tunes from the old Star Trek movies. That man is one heck of a composer!

Since the Catiths were added to the Federation faction, provide the Kzin to the Klingon faction with the same game mechanics. The differences would be highlighted by the Catiths being Leonid (Lions), and the Kzin as Panthera (Tigers/Jaguars). Another slight difference would be the additional character option would be access to the telepathic trait. This would reflect the Animated Series "Slaver Weapon" episode.

There are some great ideas in this thread. I think new ships + retrofits of iconic ships are definitely a start. And yeah, some of the notable Klingon characters throughout the series and the original crew movies are great source material to work from. As for the Kzin, i hope we get more than just a Caitian palette-swap with new facial hair options, that would be a bummer.

Also, what do you guys think of this model from Dominion Wars K' Vort Cha Class 1 K' Vort Cha Class 2 as an idea to work from for new designs?

I posted these in my own thread for Klingon Content Ideas, but I'll post it here as well.

If nothing else it doubles the change a Dev will see it:

    Raid the Planet
This is similar to Aid the Planet but with a Klingon twist. Instead of being hailed and having them ask for stuff from you, you beam down an steal stuff from them, say 20 Terraforming Systems, which you can then sell for money.

    Klingon DSE’s
As pretty much everyone knows leveling a Klingon is a major Grind; the main ways to level are PvP, which can take for ever to pop, Empire Defense, which can take 30 minutes to complete for not a lot of points, and Star Clusters, which can get repetitive.

But one advantage the Federation has is DSE’s, where they can jump in and do 3 rounds in a fairly short amount of time via instance hopping, which can’t be done in Empire Defense.

So since the Klingons has a new/old enemy, the Fek’ihri, why not have a few DSE’s of them flying around. This would give the Klingons one more thing to do to get XP as well as break up the monotony of doing Star Clusters or waiting for PvP matches.

    The Great Houses
I brought this up in another thread, http://forums.startrekonline.com/sho...d.php?t=170289. Currently there are two of the Great Houses that are in power, House Martok and House Duras, and both of them are vying for power.

So lets have the player made Houses/Fleets be able to ally themselves with one of them. Benefits of this could be: Reduced/Increased prices from vendors who supports either House, being put on a specific team in KvK PvP, and even effect possible missions players get.
