"Fire the Wave Motion Cannon!"-Captain Avatar, Starblazers

Nice... and the Avatar as well - Star Blazers was an awesome show :D

For mine - its not sci-fi... but sci-fact and one we can only hope to inspire to again:

"Thats one small step for man, one - giant leap for man-kind..." - Neil Armstrong

"Thats one small step for man, one - giant leap for man-kind..." - Neil Armstrong

Actually, according to the the cleaned-up, re-releases of those tapes, he actually said:

"That's one small step for *a* man, one giant leap for mankind."

I like it better that way, personally.

I know there's plenty of B5 stuff, but we haven't had that yet. I checked.

That's Big Brother at work again. Listen to the unaltered originals, and there is no pause in the pacing. There is no gap in his speech large enough for the word "a" to be hidden, and the static is simply not that bad. He said "man", not "a man", and in the 60s there was nothing wrong with that.

They shouldn't mess with the apex of mankind's technical achievements in the name of political correctness.

I think he was actually SUPPOSED to have said *a* man, but he didn't. Cause that would make more sense. Man in a general term, is the same as mankind. It sound like he knows he messed up to me, when he says one giant leap for mankind he sounds disappointed and the he pause mid sentence like he just realized he messed up. I'm not claiming to know, that is just what it sounds like to me.

Now now, this is Ten Forward... all arguements, disagreements, and issues are supposed to be left at the General forums Door :D

Doesn't matter if there's an "a" or not - I only hope I live long enough to actually "see" it happen again :)

(though I like it the old way... cause history sometimes shouldn't be tinkered with ;) )

    === now for the thead:

"Size matters not, ... Look at me. Judge me by size, do you?” - yoda (now I'm 6'6... so I donno if I can agree with it but its a sci-fi quote :D )

Blain: [reaches into chew pouch and offers it to squad: no one partakes] Bunch of slack-jawed ***gots around here. This stuff will make you a god damned sexual Tyrannosaurus, just like me.
Poncho: [holds up his grenade launcher] Yeah, strap this on your "sore TRIBBLE", Blain.

Poncho: You're bleeding, man. You're hit.
Blain: I ain't got time to bleed.
    Poncho: [Confused] Oh... Okay...
Poncho: [Poncho shoots a bunch of grenades up to the top of the cliff] You got time to duck?

    Heres another one I found:

"The War. The humans, I think, knew they were doomed. Where another race would surrender to despair, the humans fought back with greater strength. They made the Minbari fight for every inch of space. In my life, I have never seen anything like it; They would weep, they would pray, they would say goodbye to their loved ones, and then throw themselves without fear or hesitation at the very face of death itself, never surrendering. No one who saw them fighting against the inevitable could help but be moved to tears by their courage. Their stubborn nobility. When they ran out of ships, they used guns, when they ran out guns they used knives and sticks and bare hands. They were magnificent. I only hope that when it is my time, I may die with half as much dignity as I saw in their eyes in the end. They did this for two years they never ran out of courage but in the end, they ran out of time." - Londo Mollari

    A classic:

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die. "

One of my all time favorite movies. Sorry bud, but I must make it my forum sig.
