Cryptic Ideas To Boost The Klingon Players.

The following are some ideas for Cryptic to begin stemming the losses of further Klingon dedicated players.
1) Introduce a Game Title for all Klingon General level players. Reward their dedication to the Empire. This title should only be available to Generals who leveled before the next update of PvE content.
2) Include some special item for General players. A Bat'leth or other cool Klingon weapon or Costume change.
I'd love to see the long coats that are worn at the High Council made available to Generals.
3) Announce the intention for full Klingon Episodic content.
4) Annouce a purely Klingon update targetted for the next 2 months.
5) Annouce the intention and timeframe for the introduction of limited consentual PvP with territorial implications.
6) Announce a competition to write an Klingon Episode open to all Klingon Captains and above.
Do you have any other suggestions?

You have to have credibility to draw people in. Cryptic has lost credibilty and will have a very difficult time finding new players , forget pulling old players back. It's about depth of gameplay this game utterly lacks that aspect.

You don't get it , it's not about Klingons . They are a small minority of the player base . The majority of the paying customers ( that's what it boils down to ) play Fed. The game is meant to function as Fed orientated , Klingons Romulans and Cardassians are monster play for those that crave PvP . God forbid that the PvP be challenging in Cryptics world or the gameplay.

The following qoute is from Cryptics Ask Klingons Round 3.
"Due to the community’s demand, we are also releasing more PvE content - fleet actions, Special Tasks Forces, Star Clusters and, down the road, unique episodes. Eventually you will be able to play a Klingon character to General with PvE alone".
The important part for me is "unique episodes".

Nobody in this messageboard can read. That "ask cryptic" is 3 weeks old and not one person who has posted "doom and gloom" seems to understand that it is coming.

Really , let's see my join date July 2008 , Yours Feb 2009 , so you've listened and heard the promises almost as long as I have . What I do understand for a company to have credibility they have to release a game that was promised they released half a game and a bunch of unfulfilled promises . People will not wait nor bank on promises any longer , that the issue. MMO's basically get one chance to make a good impression Cryptic obviosly missed it's

I cannot beleive you have been here longer than me because if so, you would remember last fall cryptic saying that they where NOT GOING TO INCLUDE KLINGONS ON RELEASE. A month later they said they woudl release them with the bear minimum. And what do we have? The bear minimum.

You have no right to be shocked at this. I...I can't accept it.

Do you go to a dentist and say "I had no idea you where going to check out my teeth. You should have told me" or "What? This car I am willing to buy is going to cost X amount? It is the same amount as the sticker price!".

Please, explain why you expect more than was promised.

Wow , what game were you following , they said from the outset this was going to be a two FULL faction game , with all the selling points. ( One could argue that they never said when ) It wasn't until last fall as the deadlines drew near that they began to hedge their bets an change the tune they were singing. This in effect is a single player game much like BF:BC 2 or CoD. they only difference is that the loading screens differ , if you're Klingon. At least with those other games I don't have a monthly waiting fee. Please prove to me where they said they weren't going to release Klingons ?

A year ago it was going to be a fed/kling on release. Last fall, when the deadline got closer, they said that it was only going to be fed. Last December they not only posted it on their front page, on the forumns BUT THEY MADE A VIDEO OF IT that they where going to release the klingons as basically an empty class at launch. If you don't remember or didn't read, that is fine. But it was clear as day to me.And before I buy anything, I read everything I can about it. But, for this, it had a video, man. The only thing more clearer would be a puppet show.

I am not going to prove it to you. I don't have access to the entire site because it is blocked at work.

in the end, what they said was that klingon content would be "spartan". what we got wasn't "spartan", it was "broken". that's fine, it will take them some time to fix things like broken pvp vendors, which is apparently a very tricky technical issue because six weeks in they're still broken. and they'll also be adding more content, which will also take time. that's fine too.

but it's unreasonable to expect customers to pay $15 per month to sit and wait. on the fed side it's easy to say "just wait, more content is coming." feds can say that because they have plenty to do in the meantime. on the klingon side, there's little to do while waiting except unsubscribe and come back later (or roll a fed alt, which many of the klingons have done).

the problem is, it is comparatively rare for a person to come back to a game once they've left. so by the time that new klingon content arrives, there will be relatively few klingons still playing, and relatively few of the klingons who left will come back to try it out, because they will be playing something else instead.

as for myself, I've reduced my subscription from 3-month renewals to 1-month renewals, because the first month of gameplay convinced me that I am not the type of customer that Cryptic is trying very hard to keep. that's fine, they can't please everybody and it's a sound business decision to cater to the majority. I don't fault them for it, but in the long term there's no reason I should continue to pay for it, either.

Vuk, you're a very opinionated egocentric individual.

Even if the entire klingon community of today leaves, there will always be klingon players. I know its hard to understand that you're not the only klingon players that could possibly ever play the game. You guys have every reason to quit playing your klingons. I played feds for one reason, they have more robust pve.

Whatever players leave today will be replaced by the players of tomorrow. If you don't like it, stop paying for it! Hopefully i'll get to stop reading the same posters rage drivel every time I read a klingon post.

Eventually you will be able to play a Klingon character to General with PvE alone".

    Hmm...
    Eventually

Keep that word in mind. fact of the matter is these changes they are doing to the klingons (The explore missions) could have been done a long time ago, but for some reason they just now tumble to the idea "Oh lets put them red side!" its something that could have been probably included at launch to cover their butts or at least stop the flow of Klingon players leaving, but they didnt. I'm i the only person wondering why they were not? or why the Expanse missions did not just simply auto level with you since they can be done solo?

I'm not saying they are not working on the problem now but seriously, why would you miss something this easy to throw in?

Putting this a bit back on topic...

I really like the idea of BG5 Klingons getting a special Blue Bat'Leth for their service to the Empire. BG Klingons already get a special uniform option in the mantle that unlock at general (I think it is under the sashes section of the uniform customization screen).

He doesn't understand that creating a faction is difficult, and that Klingons will receive more in future updates.

He wants to be dramatic and pretend the sky is falling... He'll quit, join in 2 months after the Klingon updates have come.

I wouldn't try and convince him, the lack of intellegence is getting in the way at this point.

Um, we read the message all right. "Doom and gloom" aren't coming, they are here.

That "Ask Cryptic" has been analyzed closely and consists of 6 parts fluff, 2 parts non-answers and 2 parts promises of more non-specific "stuff" at a later (unspecified) date. You should go back and reread it a couple of times, with a critical eye.

WE DON'T TRUST CRYPTIC TO DO THE RIGHT THING. Especially after that Federation (with a bone to Klingons) 45-day update.

;) Cryptic should be kissing Klingon butt, not the other way around! ;)

Hope this helps with the argument, it is a re-link of the article with a cut / paste referance to klingons:

STO.nl: Just last week it was announced that the Klingons are more of an additional advancement path for players looking for PvP combat and that they will not have access to any robust PvE content. Can you explain why this decision was made?
Craig: There are tough decisions that have to be made when you get close to launch.* We felt that other parts of the game would have lacked if we tried to hurry along the PvE portion for Klingons.* If the community really wants more PvE content for Klingons then it is something we will definitely look at adding in after launch.* That is the nice thing about MMOs is that they are constant work in progress and you can add things in that you couldn’t fit in at launch.

And link for the article is:
