Fun with the Feds

Hello, I'm new to this side of the game, but several of us had a blast in PvP. We are LtC level so we went to the resource area with the Borg. We'd cloak and fly around till we spotted some feds fighting the Borg. We would then come up behind them, uncloak and kill them, recloak and repeat. The chat coming from the fed side was not polite, but we got lots of laughs out of it. When they quit respawning we would cloak and finish mish then do it again. Lots of tears were shead on fed side that night, and lots of Bloodwine drank on klingon side. Anyone else have fun things to do to the feds?

Honest opinion from someone who has only pvp'd in this game?

That is a mission zone and they went there for PVE not PVP. I would have let them complete the mission as a klingon if they voiced any complaints. If I was a fed and the klinks were acting like this in what is a pve zone I would have attempted to find another open instance without you there.

There are a few areas of this game where PVP is not consentual and this is one of them. I try to keep in mind that if you enter a zone not marked as PVP as this game is alive today mostly as a result of PVE and in time I hope to have some feds to PVP with who actualy want to PVP.

So I'm glad you had fun, but to be honest it looks like it was at the expense of their fun.

It was listed as a PvP quest when I did it on fed side. Both sides had the same quest when we entered the zone. The one to finish first got the credit for the mish. What makes this a PvE mish? We just won it by makeing the other side quit. What's wrong with that, that the consept behind total war. If you hit on your enemy hard enough and long enough he will give up.

It is a pvp zone. Spawn campers unite there. It is good times.

It is listed as a war zone. What happens in war....pvp!

They consented by going. They can leave. They do not have to do the misison if they don't want too. They have tons of other pve to explore.

it is a pvp zone and the idea is to stop the feds completing it.
But it still completes the quests even if you lose.

That zone is a PvE AND PvP free for all zone. I was working that area a while back, and even though the Feds and KDF have the same objectives, everyone is hostile to each other. I recall sticking to one area of the map with a friend of mine. We knew from the Zone chat that there were alot of Feds there, but figured it would take them a while to come to our neck of the map. Plus, we were horribly outnumbered :D So, even though we just stuck with the PvE portion of the zone, a group of Feds stumble upon us. While focused on the Borg Cube, they shoot us to pieces.

I swore up and down that from that moment on, I will return every now and then to kill hapless Feds doing that mission. PvE/PvP in that map is really a KDF skipper's dream, since the Borg will distract the prey. I have more freedom to prowl and strike at the worst possible time for them. Even better, this very environment is where the Bird of Prey's Battle Cloaking ability REALLY shines. Your PvP kills there still count towards those PvP quests (and your deaths too!).

Well, maybe I should've refrained from using FFA as everyone against everyone. What I mean is that it's a PvE zone but the Feds and KDF are hostile to each other. Makes things interesting, especially for the Feds with the possibility of KDF ships skulking around while you battle the Borg. Despite this, both sides share the same mission objectives and their actions count to the same thing.

Not sure on numbers of players possible, but I've seen roughly 5 Feds, less than 10 at a time. KDF are usually smaller in numbers, if at all. The Feds seem to go for it more often but the mission is bugged.

IMO, for your Fed perspective, it'd be better if there were more of us KDF to... spice things up in such a way. TBH, very few KDF players attack you guys in that area in such a way. But when we do, it causes all kinds of problems, and the Feds who are focused on PvE at that moment alot of times don't realize what's going on until everyone starts blowing up

Usually it is mostly Feds and they get the mission done in a few minutes, but the last couple of days the KDF has ruled. It is much easier for us as we can cloak in and scan and then cloak and get very close to the hubs and destroy them before the cubes can kill us.

Good fun. I like to kill borg damaged feds while running around.

Its the only pvp zone i know of then that is not in the queue system anyhow to me its pve call it what you will but when some pve'er goes in there to complete a pve mission I let them. The point being that in all honesty I dont want to scare people away from that part of the game. So unless its a pvp zone in the Q system I tend to leave them alone.. however if they shoot first well that's a different story.

Having gone into that zone today and had 5 feds attempt to kill me off and on I had no issue killing them. I do however consider it a pve zone so if someone gets upset I leave them be. I prefer my um victims to be voluntary.. after that they can complain to me about whatever (and they have done often) but until that time I like to walk the other side of the line and let them finish their mission if they so choose to or race them to finish the thing the pve way.. and not touch them unless they touch me seeing as i'm OP.. blah blah blah..

I kinda felt sorry for the Klingons who were attacking everyone when I did that mission. They were trying so hard to get people to express anger, but no one really cared. Respawn, fly a few feet, finish killing the objectives. Few minutes later, done.

Cryptic calls these zones "iPvP" -- indirect PvP aka PvPvE.

Currently there are only 2 -- one Fed vs Klingon and one Klingon vs Klingon (it seems to just put you on a random team).

According to their engineering notes they are opening more zones like this soon. In beta there was a ground combat version of Borg Hunt in the Ohta system in the neutral zone. I really enjoyed hunting the Feds down in there and am very much looking forward to it opening back up.

And yeah, it's a "war zone" situated in the neutral zone. You consent to PvP when you zone in there. I have no sympathy for complainers in there. A lot of times the Feds give up on doing the mission and just fight us, in fact.

Ideally you can ensure that the Klingons win the mission by having some people fight the Feds to distract them but since it doesn't matter who wins, there's not a lot of point to it (except personal entertainment).

When I roll in there in my KDF warship, I don't really care if the Feds get mad or not. I don't care if the overall mission against the Borg succeeds or fails. All I care about is killing Feds, which I have PvP quests that reward me for doing so. Plus, it's satisfying to hunt, prowl, and finally attacking my prey when it suits me best.

Went in there tonight, Was fighting a Borg sphere, seen some green beams coming from behind me and what do I see? A group of Klingon ships. I targeted one, fired back but, along with the Borg spheres shooting me, my ship was taken out. Taught me a lessen. Watch my aft, and try not to get in that situation again. :D I had a good time tonight. I'll be in there tomorrow. :p

I did get some revenge though. Seen a couple of Federation ships firing on a Klingon ship, I went full impulse in targeted the klingon ship, hit the tractor beam and kept him there so he could "feel the love."

We need more " open areas" like this, IMHO. As I have said before I hate waiting to PvP. I do now right now though the Klingon side doesn't have alot of players. What is a good klingon missions to level up fast?

I'm working on a second klingon (was going to make a romulan but I decided to use the slow now..) and the pvp Q's can be very slow so to be honest get the nebula missions. The first one is kahless expanse and just sit in there and blow stuff up. The downside I guess is the pvp vendor gear is something you will miss. So join some pvp Q's and go into the expanse and do that repeatable mission. That is about the only way to level.

Once you get to admiral level you will have hot and cold running federation players and my first klingon took me a very short time to level due to the fact that the Q time was 0.

Thank you. I'll start leveling my Klingon up tomorrow. Only have him at Lt 7. :(
