In all my years of playing games, both off and online, I havent experienced a quest quite like this one before. It was well written and a lot of fun.
The only thing I didnt like was the part where you had to track down the Warvig and had to fight it and a battleship that were both +1. I did this mission on-level, in a sci ship. It took me three tries, but I finally nuked both ships. Im not saying nerf the quest or anything (though you could give me +5 of my hull back), just saying that the quest at that point was hard for me.
Also, you know youre a Trek-nerd when you get all giggly and squeal in chat about getting to see the tos Enterprise and having Spock talk to you. xD Although I believe it should have been Kirk talking... but Shattner is too expensive to do Trek voice-overs now. >.>
Agreed. I loved that quest. It was very Trek-ish in plot and design. Way to go Cryptic! Your attention to detail and quest building abilities are darn good, and surpassed my expectations by far. This quest is the best of them all (so far anyway).
Only one problem I have: More non-combative missions please!
That's one of those episodes that's better with at least two people. I've been through it 6 times so far and just like nerd out every time. Just did it recently with two science ships and we destroyed everything.
Something odd though, I completed this mission and like 3 missions later I signed up for "Through the looking glass" which the mission content was exactly the same, minus some ground content. What is up with that. I guess it's not a big deal, because it was easy points, but I was like wtf?
Agreed, this is a fun mission, probably the best of them. Those of us who appreciate it are true Trek fans, not the noobs who only want to see how much damage they can do with a T2 ship.
My only complaint about the mission is, the voice of the Guardian; it should be booming, resonating, unemotional. Something which Ted Cassidy (there's a reference for you true fans! ) would probably do today were he alive. The Guardian's voice in-game sounds too young and unremarkable.
(One last note: This mission confirms, to me, how great Harlan Ellison really is. The fact that his original story, 'City on the Edge of Forever,' is still considered one of the best Trek episodes ever and is getting an homage done to it in STO should help prove my argument. If you've never read any of Ellison's stories, I recommend you do so!)

Anyone else encounter this?
