Ok so here i go again. From what i've seen there are only weapons up to MK X.
With the Sovreigns first entry there where Type XII phasers around...shouldn't we have atleast Mark XII phasers for the Sovreign?
Can someone enlighten me why we don't have em or ist the MK I-X a self defined thing by the dev's that can't be directly be compared to canon designation?

So here's my attempt: Real answer: for balancing and convenience having a "vendor class" of weapon and a "good drop/reward" class weapon for each tier across five tiers is a very good uniform way of doing things.
Lore answer: The classification system was redone when star fleet retrofited mothballed ships in preperation for the klingon war. This was to better fit the power constraints of old ships with the mounting types of up-to-date weapons. I'm not just pulling this out of my TRIBBLE as I go; Star Fleet has done this before. Data mentions in TNG at some point that the classification index for warp factors changed between TNG and TOS such that the current Warp Factor 5 is what TOS would have considered Warp 9.
You can see this in the name change from "type" X <weapons> to <Weapons> "MK" X
Or maybe it was just a poorly translated episode into the German language (like it happend many times with TNG)
But somehow i wish those minor details would somehow be in the game...I know that behind designations there are only numbers but hey...the minor things sometimes count too
