No not another World of Warcraft thread and how amazingly superior it is. I'm expressing my wow factor of the missions and storyline so far! Cryptic, you sure have done your homework on writing such great missions. Everyone that I have done so far has left me wanting more. The latest ones in Beta Ursea have got me rewatching old episiodes of DS9 and also itching to go further into the game!

Keep up the good work guys, I look forward to seeing how this all unravells in the end and also look forward to new exciting missions in the upcomming months!

Interestingly, I find that when I actually READ the information that pops up on screen, the stories are pretty interesting.

Unfortunately, the hailing system is pretty annoying, and I often find myself clicking through dialogue to get it out of the way, so that I can get back to not dying in space.

The stories that I've encountered have indeed been pretty interesting, but I wish they had a better way of presenting it to me.

Yes, the missions (the Episodes in the Klingon Front/Romulan Front and so on) have been FULL OF WIN.

you mean there's eventually an end to the.. patrol this system, now patrol this system, now patrol this system, now chase these ships, now patrol this system, now patrol this area.. I'm trying so hard to level but I can't stay interested more than an hour or 2 a day. I guess I'm just doing the wrong missions... good to know there might be something cool hidden in amongst the copy paste patrol stuffs.

    1. When doing the patrol missions, read the mission text. Some of it is kind of interesting.

    2. The main storyline quests are, in general, interesting, if you can bring yourself to read the mission text.

oh I do.. I did have one neat murder investigation, where I had to figure it out and set an ambush, THAT was fun. Maybe I just enjoy the ground combat more. But alas it is a new game so I'm not expecting the world right away.

Yes, main storyline quests. The Explore X Cluster and Patrol X System are filler. The storyline quests is where the good stuff is, good loot too.

The combat is down solid IMO. My only suggestion would be to add in... and this is probably Pandora's Box... more puzzle elements. Ok so we beam down and scan stuff. Sometimes nothing else is going on, just scanning things in space or on the ground. Sometimes things are shooting at us. Normal for a lot of MMO's and sci-fi & fantasy games but this is Star Trek. There should be more remodulations, polarity reversing, ready room discussions, sexual innuendo regarding androids and the like.

I know there's plenty of hair-pulling ways these missions could be harder with some more puzzle solving, but a lil more thought required stuff in missions would be nice. Not just solving everything by going up to a console/rock/thingamajig and tricordering it. There have been plenty missions on my way to captain rank that I thought the story and plot was just fine if not excellent but was ruined by just needing to shoot up everything and/or scan some consoles.

While it may not work out well with some of the main story line stuff, more difficult challenges like that (and not just adding in a jump puzzle or removing flashing panels) would make exploration missions a lot more fun. I don't think I'm the only one here who's played the adventure style console/pc star trek games. I'll gladly take a bit more aggravation if it means a bit more accomplishment.
