epic stories - simplified?

Ok it is cool to do a doomsday machine mission. Also guardian forever mission and all the other 'epic' stories from star trek series converted to missions in game or references to those missions.
but i dont think just one mission justifies some of the epicness of these stories.
some of them should carry on long arcs. the romulans issue had about what? 10 missions devoted to them? a nice back story created by the writers leading up to and into the game for many of the 'mission hubs' yet they are not done justice and fully fleshed out.
