Bridge officer skill

Hey im just wondering how bridge officer gets there most skill point so for example if i go down to fight on a plnet am i better of letting them do the most damage like do they get points for each bit of damage they do? Thanks

Your officers will get skill points when you defeat enemies. If it was you or your officers, it doesn't matter.
You can also find officer trainers to get skills that your officers will normally not receive.
