Upgradeing Lower tier Ships

so i was thinking, once everyone hits admiral everyone who's a escort/Sci/Eng only has 2 kinds of ships to pick from with 3 diffrent configs.

i was thinking maybe they could try and put in Refit blueprints upgrades this items would do as followed

1 : Add more Consoles such as More Tact slots , Sci slots , Eng slots , ( not all 3 but what kind of items you get)

2 : add more upgrades to Stations so a Galaxy class would have a Lt.commander Tact slot or pick a Lt.commander Sci or even Commander ( get the idea ) ?

3: Add more Weapons forward and Aft ( if ships need it like tier 1 or 2's..)

4 : upgrade HP on the hull and other things that makes a Differents when you upgrade tiers..

just a few idea's. you can only use the Refit blueprints upgrades once you hit Admiral so you dont unblanace things when your leveling up...
reason it would be good to have this is because everyone most likely wont want to fly the same kind of ship (or something close or like it) everyone else is,.. like me i like the Akira and Defiant class but i'll be missing out on other Consoles and higher tier abilitys because of my class of starship

any thoughts?

    I think you could limit it so you could only pick like 2 of 4 possible upgrades; More Hull, more power, higher level officer stations, more consoles, etc.

    Could make them hard to acquire or expensive, to give high level players something to strive for - the issue is will they spend much time to upgrade a ship that might still be less effective than the natural admiral ships.

    Do they have to become equal in power to the admiral ships to be worth it?

    There was a thread about this in the open beta forums. I would like to once again add my support for a refit to make ships more viable 1-2 tiers above their base.

    Love the idea. Would pretty much be analogous to X-Ships in Star Fleet Battles, which is what this game really reminds me of.

    non of the Admiral ranks would have the refit, only the Captain and below would get a Refit for the plan i put in this thread

    The biggest thing for me would be the BO stations. I can deal with less hull and weapon ports but the inability to use the higher level abilities of my crew makes keeping a wessel, even a T4, past it's prime a hard decision to cope with.

    If cryptic just allowed us to update these it could make T3 and T4 viable at the endgame and ultimately give more variety to fleet make up at the end game (who wants to see the same 6 ships around at endgame when there are 18 fed starships in the game right now.

    With the lower hull hitpoints and weapon slots they will not be exactly on par with the T5 ships but they could at least be usable at that level.

    I think every Trekkie has a favorite ship, We should be able to refit them all up to our current rank. If they can refit an excelsior there's no reason we shouldn't be able to do it.

    Have posted this topic since the beta phases of the game over and over and many players would like it.

    You can upgrade your ships now. When you hit your next rank just fly the same damn ship and put higher mk gear on it.

    That does nothing to address the station rank limitations which is what renders the ships unusable.

    Sounds like something hard coded and difficult/impossible to do. That would mean the stations on a ship change dynamically with the captain's rank, rather than statically with the class of ship.

    I wouldn't say unusable so much as it just makes things a little more difficult. I plan to stick with my Vesper until Captain rank cause I'm not a huge fan of the T3 cruiser or science ship designs, and escorts are glass cannons.

    Combat seemed easier in T3, to me, only because I had two extra phaser arrays to pound on enemies with; not so much cause I could use more BO abilites.

    However, I would like to throw in my support of a refit system to allow ships to jump up a tier; at least in terms of station ranks.

    If it's hard coded they should just make a new tier version of the ship and trade up to it, but I don't think that's the case as there's different versions of Bird of Prey's etc...
