I have a serious beef with the fact that I keep getting yanked against my will into Deep Space Encounters. It is really annoying, and lately, I've been getting pulled into encounters and then immediately ambushed by a fleet of enemy ships, so that I cannot leave.
It seems to be that the text box pops up asking me if I want to talk to the enemy signal contact, but if I ignore it and don't get out of range in time, I get yanked in anyway. Please remove the "yank in anyway" part of this equation. If I want to go into a Deep Space Encounter, I promise, I will talk to the ship. Don't force me in there against my will, because I prorbably had my mail window open or was allocating skill points in transit to my destination system and didn't even see the warning.
I think there are 2 types one you come acroos a battle and can choose to join in or not and the othr you are ambushed and have no cchoice but to fight. had both types.
I was trying to write a supplemental log after a mission while I flew to the next system and the autozoning wiped it out Earlier when I was leaving a system my loading screen hadn't even cleared when it was replaced by another one (seriously...can they at least not camp landing areas for systems?)
I appreciate the concept of a random space encounter, but in a game that relies so heavily on combat combat and combat the last thing I need is random combat to break up the day. I would love to see the other captain's dialogue pop up every single time so that I can choose whether I want to particiate.
I've been posting this since beta
There are obvious drawbacks: if people go afk for 5 mins, they end up in deep space missions afk, taking up space and annoying the other people in there by leeching.
If you are in a group with friends on your way to another mission, they have to wait for you.
and the obvious, I don't want to do deep space encounters.
At least when you could choose instance you had a few seconds to cancel going in, even that was bad enough.
omg, seriously, you go near them or get close to them what do you expect its your own fault, I never gotten grabbed by one, cuz i keep an eye out for them, there surpose to ambush you.
And o go afk, vist your bridge. simple , wont get grabbed then, and your afk in sector space, not hard is it now.
Wish these ****** threads over the most simple things would stop, People will make this game so boring and **** soon if cryptic listen.
Do you think that enemy will politely ask you "Dear sir, may i attack your vessel at moment?
Seriously i think its pretty fun most of the time altho bit annoying in some cases.. But i only hope that sector space would be more "Space without these grids and all the unneeded stuff so that these encounters would feel more real too. Also 1vs1 encounters would be great to have.
And that not all random encounters were for combat, destroying Crystalline entity in tng was enough pain already Do we have to attack it now again and not try to study it? It clearly was not an "Evil" entity as thought first.
It even adds a funny "oh TRIBBLE that guy is behind me" feeling.
Why there are so many players who want to play "Hello-Kitty Online"??????
signed.
Even though it's annoying if you just want to pass a system, remember the Federation is at war.
Romulans, Klingons, Cardassians, asf won't ask if they may shoot you, they just will.
It's one of the few bits in this game that adds to the feeling of a threatened Federation.
yer i happen to agree here with the most pedantic threads over anything!
as much as the storyline may feel tenuous at best, fact of the matter is in this universe we are at war. your science officers and engineers are kitted up for combat and thats that. the few diplomatic missions that have been thrown in have been as interesting as dried mud imho.

They quite often spawn ON you, or fly up to you and drag you in. I get this quite a bit when I have just finished a mission and am trying to spend my skill points etc.
If I am actively flying it isnt a problem but I cant see any good reason why you should be 'forced' into a death trap. (which can lead to multiple death loops in some cases) At the very least they should spawn you in an area where enemies do not go.
I don't know why people are saying "if you want to go afk". When did I say I was afk?
For all the whining that the game isn't enough like Star Trek I have to say that "open a hailing frequency" is a lot more Star Trek than "I see another ship! OPEN FIRE!" If you like these encounters than the only change would be that you push a button to zone in. Why is giving people a choice bad?
I think they should either stop the auto-pulling, or remove the ability to automatically leave the zone when you zone in. It's a little hypocritical right now, like "Hey! don't be a wuss, enemies will not ask you nicely to fight you!... but hmm... if you really really don't want to fight then just click this little button after you zone in"
I set course to a star then run to the bathroom only to come back to find the exploded corpse of my vessel. So I'll release and warp out, only to get pulled back in again. Drives me crazy!
Then, of couse, when you WANT a defend the sector mission you can't seem to enter them.
Yes this annoys me also, seems to happen alot when iv just finished a mission say a patrol and I'm sat outside the system reading new mission briefs or what ever, the next thing i know im entering a deep space encounter its very annoying.
Someone mentioned a way to stop this, though I haven't tried it. Supposedly there's an option somewhere so it always asks you when you enter an instance. So for the nuisance of having to click everytime you enter a mission, you don't get the nuisance of entering deep space encounters without your approval... a trade-off.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
I hope the NPCs camp your spawn point and teach you to man up.
Because they are cowards that need "i win' buttons to succeed in games, because they can't be bothered to think for themselves?
