gamepad/joystick compatability

i am a fan of many flight sim/ space fighter combat games, and startrek as well.. wondering if you will be implimenting the option to control your ship via gamepad or joystick. i tried to set some controls to the joystick i have, but the game doesn't seem to recognize the input as it didn't bind the key. i also could find throttle binds, but no pitch/yaw bind options. an input?
