Canon Federation Weapons

I've decided to only use federation sanctioned weapons throughout the game (photons, phasers, quantums.)

But, there are fine lines on some weapons. For instance, tetryon, although its not a sanctioned federation weapon, it was still used by dax in DS9. There are other examples, too, jsut curious what you hardcore trekkies thought about some of the weapons and their "fine line" in federation canon.

a lot can change when a war starts, this time line is something like 20 years after the destruction of romulus.

the federation may have laxed a little on there guidelines to assist with the war effort against the klingons/gorn/orions.
some technologies were banned for federation use due to treaties with romulans and klingons... but now that we are at war with them, there is no need to keep to the treaties

I'll use anything that makes pretty lights. I'll stick with whatever makes the enemy health bars go down fastest.

Tri Cobalts and Transphasic weapons were also Starfleet weapons.

You may have missed the multitude of recent threads on the topic, but apparently the canon thumpers have determined that there are in fact extremely strict guidelines on the matter of weapon usage. The regulations even specify the color appearance of the weapons!

There are far more canon breaking things. Such as the Federation's "shoot first and make first contact later" policy. As long as Starfleet is behaving like the Terran Empire, who cares what color the phasers are?

Paramount. This is still a licensed property.

The license holders are pretty adamant about certain things. Weapons color just happens to be one of them.

Behavior changes with situation and time.
Fundamental technology characteristics... not so much.

How often did you see Sisko hail Dominion ships during the war?
Federation captains also aren't likely to bother hailing an enemy that approaches them with shields raised and weapons charged. Their intent is pretty clear before the 10km range is met.
