Never go AFK in STO. It's a fact, some not so friendly ship will come attack you and you'll come back to find yourself waiting for respawn.
I'm glad to see web comics start to cover our beloved game so soon!

If you wanna go AFK for a min.. Just park inside the rings of a system in sector space. basically.. pick any system.. and just park near the the center,,, or really close.. sorta like your in orbit

If your say .5 LY outside of the outer most ring.. it can spawn (say 6-8 inches outside the system on your screen).

I also notice flying high helps keep you away from the spawns

Hehehe, thats story is to true, nothing worse than just getting your new escort, leaving it travelling towards Memory Alpha, go to th loo and just walk through the door to your computer room and seeing yourself hit by a plasma torpedo for 26000 damage.....:(

It's not when you go AFK static that you're in danger, it's when (like me) you set course for some system or warp point between sectors and go brew a cuppa and when you come back the tribble hit the fan!

If you want to go AFK for a short time, Alt-Tab to Widnows. It prevents zone transitions. When you come back, Alt-Tab back in and if you have been jumped, you will have a loading screen with "Press Any Key To Continue". Then you can load the DSE and just leave straight away.

Agree its good to see STO comics but this one didnt really make me laugh sadly.

Did they fix the bug when you are on your bridge and you invite a friend, that friend will spawn in his own instance of your bridge without you?
