covering up uniforms

I spent alot of time on my own, and my officer's uniforms, to get them to look the way i want, but then as soon as you use some armour, it gets covered up. when in star trek did u ever see guys running round dressed up like that? any way around this, it does especially please me. what a waste of effort.

    right click on armor...hide.

    Also works with kits, though they obscure much less of your costume so you might want to leave them on.
