Please allow /<channel> command to change the currently selected channel

I would like to see it an option to change the current channel you are speaking on using the /<channel> command. I find the little drop down box used to switch the channel you are speaking on a bit annoying. II frequently use /fleet and /team but it doesn't persist for the next line of text I type in.
There may be many people who like the current behavior (use the /<channel> [text] to post on the channel but don't permanently switch to it) so I suggest an setting to allow people to select the behavior of that command.
