If you want a name turned into an alien name from a specific species (currently, I have name generators for 28 species) or just get random name samples from that species, post here. You can also check out my alien name blog.

I'll research names for Starfleet vessels for you as well, based on whatever parameters you provide. Also, I have name generators for Andorian, Klingon, Romulan, Cardassian and Ferengi ships.

This is a really cool idea, and I like the names you turn out. What can you make out of the name Rachel for me? Say Andorian, Bajoran, Betazoid, Caitian, Klingon, Orion, Trill, and Vulcan variants, surnames at your discretion.

    Thanks!

Awesome. Glad you decided to restart it. I ended up using names you gave me (or others you posted) for almost all my bridge officers.

    It helped me a lot!

Wow, you pushed the passion for detail so far even the site interface is in klingon! Oh wait no, that's german right?

Jokes aside, if you need pointers on web development (and especially PHP) send me a PM. I like people who do things for their community. And put your URL (or a link to this post) in your signature, I'm sure it'll help many more this way.

    Thanks for your Work, Kinthok.

But Andorian names follow a lot of rules, so some of your suggestions are not "real" Andorian names or for the wrong gender.

Andorian names usually consist of a first name and a family name, but in that case you have to add your status (zh' for birth mother, sh' for seed mother, th' for donor father, ch' for seed father, h' for nonreproductive) in front of the family name.

Gender is determined from the last letter(s) of the first name:
    a/aa female
    b/be male
    c male
    d/de male
    e/ee male
    f male
    g male
    h (preceded by a or i) female
    h (preceded by a consonant or e, o, u, y) male
    i/ii female
    j male
    k male
    l male
    m/me male
    n/ne male
    o male
    p/pe male
    r male
s/ss (or s preceded by a consonant) male
    s (preceded by a or i) male
    s (preceded by e, o, u, y) male
    t/te male
u/uu [and 'uu' replaces 'oo'] male
    v/ve male
    y/yy male
    z/zz male

There are special rules for members of the Philosophers caste, who name their children after animals or situations, for members of the Tradesmen caste, who use descriptive names of their work and even more rules for andorians, who don't live on Andoria. But let's keep that aside.

Thanks for the link. My Andorian name generator is based on both canon and non-canon names from novels etc. and some additions I made that sounded Andorian to me. I omitted the gender prefixes because they're not canon and don't appear in the shows. It's a general rule I follow when collating material: I favor the conventions from the shows and movies and only go with secondary material when no canon material is available or if it's consistent with canon names.

That said, I think most of my Andorian names should conform to the conventions you've given if you add your desired gender prefix. Seven out of eight names in my last Andorian post do.

One more thing about those conventions: They show the same tendency most Trek writers unfortunately went for - allowing for a great variety of male given names but establishing only few possibilites for female names. I always try to come up with more name diversity for the female names in spite of lazy writers.

I enhanced my Romulan name generator yesterday. Time for some Romulan name samples. You can build your own Romulan by either using the Vulcan template or making an alien with slight forehead ridges. I played as a Romulan unificationist during beta.

You might want to post now for a name as my graphics chip is on its last legs. Maybe the old duotronic computer core will soon snuff it.

    Romulan name samples:

    Male:
    Remanak Molian
    J'Dos Levak
    Arek Tathon
    Einan Craldek
    Hamasek Odan

    Female:
    R'Mynnis Peedar
    Amereen Mesanak
    Ranka Tyreth
    Kejiaris Merdek
    Coyura Nuthan

Any chance of turning this into a script or stand alone program? So that we could get naming ideas without having to bug you directly? I can see this being quite useful to some people.

A 'Navi' is what Germans call a portable GPS device, by the way.
