Why do you escorts keep asking for more defense buffs

But are quick to jump on cruiser players when all they want is to be able to make a half assed turn

U want a glass cannon without the glass part?

    Now I don't know, because I have been DLing the game for the last 6+ hours, but I think they want a way to deal the DPS.

    Like using WoW, a mage or warlock or any of the "glass cannons" have tools at their disposal to make it so they can at least try to deal their damage before getting creamed.

    From what I read, and this is could be wrong.
    In PVE things are fine for the escorts.
    In PVP everyone focus fires the escorts so they can never deal their damage.

    Again using WoW, for whatever reason a damage deal that never got off a spell or a hit is a useless class.
    Either it is a balance issue, or bad player's issue.

    Considering it seems pretty clear cut that Escorts have the DMG, and can't take DMG and don't have the tools to do anything to allow them to deal the damage... seems like a classic MMO balance issue.

    edit: I am not saying a defense buff is the solution BTW, just the basic request is, "Implement a way so that in pvp and am not a pretty explosion in the first few moments of combat". A very basic way to help with that would be to make them more explosion proof, but I am sure there are more creative, and fitting ways to achieve balance for this issue.

    as for your cruiser theres plenty of ways to get higher turnrate, not to mention theres skills with low cooldown you can get that also adds it.

    I've been advocating cruiser turn buffs for a while, its sad when my escort can do donuts smaller than the size of a t3+ cruiser but it takes the cruiser 4 minutes to make a 360

    I guess when trying to come up with the turn radius for the cruisers they looked up the USS Enterprise, the aircraft carrier. As oppose to the Starship Enterprise that could pivot around asteroids when needed.

    Dont see hows thats sad... the escort Is supposed to be agile while the cruiser Is supposed to be Massive.

    For the way the cruiser turns now, it should have three times the power, it should be as strong as the klingon mobile hanger ships, buts its not, so it needs its buffs

    no1 is top lvl yet and both cruiser and escorts are fine pve wise, but at top lvl pvp they have 2 do something like maybe buff using envoriment as a shield and so on, more tactical choices and less dps/tank things... and maybe its fine at top lvls we just dont know go t6 then start whining.

    a large part of the problem is the escorts get creamed by cloaked bops which is the Klingon equivalent too the escort a lot. Imho charged particle burst which is the only cloak counter I can think of atm is too short range too be really useful.

    Actually i want better avoidance through speed and a aggro reduce and not Sci Shields with Cruiser Hull.

    Did I miss something? I am flying an Escort and I never complained about my survivability...

    I could careless about more defence but cloak would acctually let me participate in PVP because without it escorts even in a good group die instantly.

    There are actually more ways available to increase an escorts survivability than there are to increase a cruiser's turn rate. Just sayin...

    Never had a problem personaly.
    Just dont spec your escort out for OMGZ PEW PEW LAZORZ and you will be fine.
    As claydermunch said, Polorize, Jaming and ablative hull will all help you live that bit longer.

    That said, we are not tanks.
    And again for anyone that missed it.
    WE ARE NOT TANKS, WE ARE D P S.

    We kill stuff, FAST.
    Our job is to get in, chew the rear off that enamy cruser and get the hell out again.
    You WILL die, LOTS.
    Thats just the nature of being the DPS ship.

    However as I have said, there are many many things you can do to mitigate your dieing so much.

    Cruisers turn too slow. And I'm an escort.

    I think the only thing escorts could really use is a regen normalization. It kinda sucks when your ship comes standard equipped with a -Shield Regen penalty. =\

    The main issue is the fact that all ship and weapons have same range. Typically in a MMORPG a glass cannon has range on his side and gets a couple shots in before the target can hit back. Also the crowd control types are the enablers of the glass cannon to keep alive, which don't exist in space combat.

    I fly an escort, always in the top 3 for dmg and have one of the lowest death counts on the fed side. Maybe the escort "issues" are a player skill issue?

    tbqh, as a cruiser pilot the only one I think needs a better turn rate is the Galaxy.

    If they removed the step down in turn from from T3 to T4 for Cruisers everything would be perfectly fine. Make them the same turn rate and all else will fall in line.

    The problem I see is when T3 and down people are whining about the turn rate. There's really nothing wrong there. Galaxies are a mess though.

    This could be true, what advice do you have for escort PVPers?

    don't get shot at, and If you do, pop your defensive buffs (if you don't have them you deserve to be shot).

    Alternatively... "Polarize Hull" + "Emergency Power to Engines" + "Evasive Maneuvers" == Get out of Death Free.

    What kind of Officer is your character? Basically I am asking do you want to run a non-tactical captain for these defensive buffs?

    Tell that to the people conditioned in their mind to always kill the weakest target first. An Escort is the easy kill. Focus fire them and bury them, they have no way of escaping or preventing the damage. Evasive Maneuvers isn't really an escape since your opponent can just pop Evasive Maneuvers and follow right behind you
