I hope one day, more use could be made of your vessel's bridge, It's currently just a generic set piece that serves no real purpose, however I don't want or expect it to be used for combat.
I do however think the UI could be more immersive via the bridge. For example i would like to to use the bridge to navigate sector space, or hail starfleet and get missions on your view screen. Or use an engineering console on the bridge to upgrade your ship. and customize your bridge a bit more, to make it somewhere you want to invite friends. Basically I want to see integration of a lot of the UI buttons into appropriate places on the bridge. Not to replace the original UI but as an optional enhancement to make you feel more apart of the game.
I know there are limitations to MMOs but i don't think it would be that difficult to implement, and i think it would be really cool.
Yesterday, I was visiting my cruisers classic bridge. And what did i have to see: There was a console, showing the layout of your ship. And it wasn't even the ship I was flying.
Well... on short notice cryptic should concentrate on making the servers stable and fixing bugs and maybe adding some content (e.g. for Klingons or endgame-content as the players progressing more and more).
But I also would like to see some more functionality of the bridge. Maybe customization too. I'd say, the bridge is the "My Home" of every other MMO out there where you can invite people, etc.
So it would be nice, if you could add a personal touch to it and - of course - interact a bit more like for things you mentioned already.
Weird thing about the bridge is that you have to exit it trough a door to get back to flying the ship, hehe! Why would i leave the bridge to control my ship?
The sector space idea maybe a little to difficult to implement, general UI interface should be pretty easy to put in, and would help the immersion factor immensely. Honestly though, I'm not sure what else you could realistically add to the bridge *besides* UI interaction.
Not too long ago there was another thread thar mentioned having BOs give you personal missions, and I think that would be a wondermous idea. Maybe select a personality trait from the customize BO screen, and have some Genesis content based around that. Imagine having to take your Vulcan science officer back to Vulcan for his Pon Far (sp?). Or have something personal come up with your Klingon tactical officer because of the war. This would also help the immersion immensely, and would help make your BOs into something more than pets.
Maybe also add in a little maitenance work in the bridge. No anything to boring or repetitive, just something simple like working on an engineering console and getting a few skill points off if it. Maybe even tie it into your career. Engineering officers could work on maitenance, while science officers can analyze some of those radiation samples you pick up without having to take them all the way back to Memory Alpha, maybe for a different reward than you would get if you made the trip.
Just a few ideas anyway. I'm not picky though. Anythings better than sitting in a lifeless room.
