gathering data/ specimens

So i'm collecting all these specimens, Radioactive material and such floating in space and on the planets. ok but where do I take them. I went to memory alpha and gave the sample from egg, but what about all these other samples I;ve collected? where do I take them?

    They're a type of 'money', you trade them in for upgrades to your equipment.

    ok, got what you say but how and where can you do this? i've seen where you can turn in exploration certificates for ship stations but nothing about where to use alien objects or any of the other things I;ve collected.

    You need to talk to Commander Remaine I think her name is, at Memory Alpha in the Alpha Centauri Sector.
