a quick question. the different weapon types (phaser,disruptor,plasma and etc) other than the different special effects, do they do the same amount of DPS at the same levels?
But the damage type specific skills become available at different levels, so phasers and disruptors will do more damage in the Commander range than the others. And the admiral level ones are pretty much screwed, as you only have enough points to get 16 skill levels at that range, which means you cannot train the damage type and starship weapon systems performance fully.

Yes and yes, they do the same damage, they just differ in terms of visual effects and side-effects (debuff, procc etc.).
Firing arcs etc. just depend on the weapon archetype, i.e. all "Beam Arrays" have a 250° Arc, for example.
