Improving missions

I realize before I even post this that coding for my suggestion may be more difficult. However, one of the things that I loved about Star Trek was the fact that in the majority of the episodes there was usually some 'mystery' to solve. Most of the episodic quests that I have done so far have been more of the hack and slash variety. Fly into a system, blow up the enemy ships, fly out (something that was rarely done in any of the series). I'm really hoping that this improves as the game advances. I would appreciate more interactive missions that required you to solve problems and figure things out. The story lines so far have been great but I don't actually do anything other than answer incoming transmissions that step me through the quest. It's getting rather boring.

It would definately be nice once in a great while to solve some great mystery in the game and have a change of pace to killing patrols all the time. It be cool if they did more with patrols where maybe there is a mission where you actually capture the last ship you encounter. Then use the captured enemy vessel to fly into a heavily guarded enemy military installment. To beam onto the installation and plant explosives, to take out the installation's defense network. Then beam back to your captured ship, and watch a fleet of friendlys fly in and help you blow up the base. I think these were some of the best star trek episodes especially in ds9. Where they would use there intelligence to infilitrate heavily guarded bases, and take them out different ways, instead of just blowing **** up senselessly. Add more story, and intrigue to it like star trek has always done! Either way I love the game, and hope there is so much more to come that we just havent seen yet, or is going to be in an expansion.

I willing to bet good money that as you progress in level you will have more difficult missions to do. This seems to be the format for most of the MMOs that i have played, though I do agree that some sort of mystery to solve would be a great change of pace.:D

This is what I'm holding out hope for. That has been my experience with most MMOs as well. I'm hoping that once you are able to travel to 'deep space' there will be more discovery (less scripting) and longer mission threads that involve more interaction and less smash 'n grab.
