Why is the default set to auto-change your movement keymapping to something different when you target an enemy (initiate ground combat)?
This has got to be the worst thing I have ever seen as a gamer.
Instead of rolling backwards when I double tap my "s" key, I roll forward instead. Instead of pivoting right so I can see (and fight) the guy who's shooting me in the side of the head, I strafe right when I press "d". Who thought this would be a good thing for a default setting!? Absolutely no heads up about it at all! In fact I thought I was bugged, until I 'untargeted' an enemy by mistake and then started moving normally again. If folks want to do some custom changes, fine let them, but for gosh sake, to change the keymapping automatcally, without prior knowledge, exactly at the worst possible time for suprises (combat) is absolute disaster.
Really, this is why there is a need for a long beta test period. There are not going to be many new paying folks happy with this 'feature' in two days....
Also one of my biggest beefs is this inability to turn (using keys) whilst targeting enemies. It was actually working properly for a weekend at the end of cb, but was patched out. Nonsense. Still waiting. Ground combat would improve x50 for me if I could rotate my avatar in combat as in every other mmo I've ever played.
Agreed. I play, and spec, for space combat alone because I avoid episodes with a lot of ground combat now. More so since they removed the auto-fire feature for ground combat. I understand why they did that, but I wish there had been a better choice.
