Galaxy/Area Map does not zoom in like it used to.

It used to be, pressing M, got you the Galaxy map in sector space. All cool and all, but one could zoom in and out of it. You still can, but there is a definite cut-off to how you can zoom-scale it now.
I understand that many times, the map would be auto-zoomed in too close and people could not figure out the scroll key lets you zoom out, but I would at least prefer the current largest scale to be larger. At least it should closely fill up the whole map window or close to it.
Icons on the map are now too small for my tastes.
