Weapon Differences (apologies to other threads)

Sorry if there are other threads out there. I am currently playing and I was wondering what if any, were the differences between dual heavy disruptors and dual disruptors... besides the obvious "heavy" and the slight increase in DPS towards the "heavy side", is their a noticeable difference? Possibly a ROF decrease for heavy? Anything better I should be using?

Heavy Cannons have a longer cool down but do more damage.

Generally Dual Cannons are good if you have 3 front slots (2 Duals and a Torp) since you can chain a max of 2 Dual Cannons while Heavy Cannons come into their own when you have 4 Front slots since you can chain 3 of them (so 3 Heavy Cannons and a Torp)

Disruptors tend to do less damage and have wide firing arcs.

Dual Disruptos do a bit more damage and have a bit less of an arc.

Dual heavy disruptors tend to do the most damage but have a very limited firing arc.

basically, look at the text and read the DPS and the firing arc. Remember, its all your play style. I like added damage and I can worry about firing arcs myself... so I tend to use Dual Heavy weapons. On the aft weapon slot I tend to use turrets (since they give 360 degree attack) and I can attack forward and add photons to my DPS and hope for a shield down for the Photon.

Broadside attacks potentially give the most DPS for beams, but sometimes you are not able to bear that torpedo as fast.

Thanks for clearing that up. I thought that was how it worked but wasn't entirely sure. Didn't have the time to test all of it in beta.

One thing I lik to point out, in the betas, I have seen some green and blue items that increase the firing arcs of these weapons but dont increase anything else.... normally a blue or green item will give a weapon increased accuracy or critical something...

I thought three heavy disruptors would cancel each other out in terms of timing... you wouldn't be able to get all three firing in correct order to do the most DPS. Is this true? I thought I read it somewhere on a forum.

thats Dual cannons Rip - you cannot fire more than 2 dual cannons without interuprting yourself.

A dual cannon has a Cool down of 2 sec and a global cooldown of 1 sec - this meens when you fire your first Dual cannon the second goes into cool down for a second - you then fire the second and the first will be availble when the global cool down has ended.

Heavy Dual Cannons have a 3 sec cool down but still a 1 second global - this meens you can chain 3 together without interupting each other

    .

Wrong. Duals and Dual Heavies have the same arc (45). The only difference is what everyone else has said: Per shot damage and Cooldown - but they yield the same DPS.

Also, realize that turrets are cannons for the purpose of the global cooldown.
