Accolade points, what are they?

In reviewing my character information I opened accolades and I've noticed that they have a point value, and that those points accumulate in a total in the corner of the window. What do you do with those points?

    Make obsessive-compulsives freak out.

    No, seriously... I don't think they serve any purpose other than to allow some people another way of keeping score which is a lure to playing more.

    Accolades should give a small skill bonus payout when you hit one, or so I thought.
