So being bored waiting for the server to come back up and I check my email. Low and behold what comes from Amazon:

If this is true they just went up a notch in my book.
They've had the option up for a while now. Wasn't up when I first pre-ordered though. Checked back a few weeks ago and applied it to my account myself.
Just an important FYI, if you have Amazon Prime, the Release-Date Delivery will be FREE.
Here's a method for getting 3 months of Prime for FREE as well (even for users who have already tried it in the past).
So, there's your free release-date shipping for STO on Amazon.
(If there's any violation to linking to an external forum, please modify this post accordingly. I think I'm good, since it's not anything illegal and benefits *all* Amazon purchasers on this forum.)
Amazon is great. I like to order console games & movies from them. Can't beat their prices. I got STO from direct2drive though. The flimsy boxes PC games come in are too much of a waste of space for me.
