Cruiser

Hi i want to make a Cruiser.
I am new in this game, and i am taktical.

So i want you to ask pls, if a cruiser is good 4 beginners :)?

    A science ship would probably be better for a beginner but cruisers are fine too.
    You will have to live with the T4's low turnrate tough.

    A cruiser is like a tank, if thats what you want to do, A escort ship is more of a dps. I preffer the hitting power over the tank aspect.

    As long as you like your ships slow and cumbersome you should be fine :)

    I also thought the same think.
    why allways cruise round and round and round, when i have phasers they shoot 4 me.

    He meant Tier 4 (ie Galxay Class).

    I actually found the Tier 2 and Tier 3 Cruiser ships weren't that bad. Plus you can find engineering consoles that improve your turn rate and Combat Impulse Engines help too. :)

    Turning can be improved with a slight reduction to speed as well .. But torps tend to care about turning this however can be rectified with a nice batch of mines to drop randomly while fighting a enemy. This and tractor beams tend to help with a cruisers manuverability problem. So in short Cruisers arent that bad if you know how to compensate for your ships innate weakness. The cruisers innate weakness is easier to comp with than the lack of hull / sheilds that escorts tend to have.

    Id say it could use a bit of tweaking to make them a bit tougher but overall cruisers are pretty well balanced.

    The front and aft photon torpedo launchers on the Excelsior class are very effective.

    Make broadside phaser attacks until the enemy shields drop, then turn the ship to launch a photon torpedo. Use Evasive Maneuvers and turn the ship 180 degrees to fire a second torpedo at the downed enemy shield.

    Cruiser is great, don't make the mistake of buying a ship early tho, you receive one for free after you rank up to Commander (Well it cost 1 Credit).

    I'm only going cruiser cause they look pretty lol, I wish Science ships with the exception of tiers 2/4 were a bit nicer looking tho or I would have been straight in one.

    I played a cruiser throughout open beta (after I leveled up enough), and I really enjoyed it. I upgraded every console I could to help with turning, but I found the best thing I could do if I wanted to get my bow pointed at an enemy was to go in reverse (something I used to do in Bridge Commander, too). The consoles, reverse and getting a really good impulse engine made the complaints about turning moot IMHO.

    I did buy an escort as well, and I found that it didnt' have nearly the punch I thought it would. If the escort is going to be the 'dps' of the tier, then it needs to have an extra weapon slot. As it is in T2, it has three up front and one in back, the cruiser has two and two, so a beam weapon and a torp launcher front and back made it a better ship for the way I fly.
