Does anyone know how to calculate the stardate in-game or otherwise? The Abrams movie calculated it as year-month.day I think... but thats not the prime universe way I dont think.

Nope it gets really confusing and mostly is just sort of made up. Check out Memory-Alpha's Stardate entry It has the whole rundown for you.

I read that, which is why I knew that ST 11's use was so simple. heh

Wonder what Cryptic's system is... would be nice if it was the same as Star Trek XI.

It certainly doesn't follow TNG thru Nemesis.

I used this site to install a "Stardate Calculator" on my site: "Star Trek: New Worlds".

Sorry to go off-topic here...but why in the world do they always repeat the Stardate in their logs?

    Like: Captain's Log - Stardate 314927.1....

Let's face it there would be no need in the 23rd, 24th, or 25th century to record such information it would automatically be timestamped when you started recording.

That being said, I could understand if they did it out of (naval?) tradition.

I really do like how the new ST did the stardates, I'm going to be RP'ing and making logs for my main character and I will personally be following the new stardates in real life date schemes(not exactly canon, but will help me keep track of what I day I wrote a specific log)
