1) Let us assign auto fire to any and all weapons simultaneously. If I am in a fight, i don't want to have one weapon auto fire and the other do nothing.
2) Ground autofire doesnt work. This gets very old very fast.
I am the captain of a freaking STAR SHIP! The captain does not SIT AND PRESS THE TRIGGER! NO!!! He orders someone else to do it! Why am I, the "Captain" of my ship, forced to act as the weapon's officer as well? Go watch DS9 again, when the Defiant gets into it with the jem'hadar you don't see Sisko sitting in his chair yelling "FIREFIREFIREFIREFIREFIREFIREFIRE"! NO!!!! He orders Worf to fire phasers, and Worf BLOWS THAT SHIP UP!!! When Picard took out that Borg cube in First Contact he didn't sit there tapping a button repeatedly to fire phasers and torpedoes! NO!!!! He gave an order and that ship was blasted at until it BLEW UP!
I am asking, begging, pleading: Please, give us some common sense ability here, and let us assign multiple weapons to auto fire.
The captain doesn't fly the ship either the helmsman does that. I propose an automatic pilot.
Technically the first officer usually leads away teams so I think we should just be able to send them while we sit in the ready room and await results.

HAHAHA For Reals... Please let us choose our autotoggles!

Even so, do you imagine Worf sitting there tapping a button? 25th century and we can't tell the computer to keep firing until the stop order is given? Precedent is set for the captain to steer thanks to Riker, and all the captains have lead their own away missions, it might not be traditional, but it wasn't unheard of.

Ad nauseum. I never saw that in any episode and dumb button mashing is not a good idea for a 2010 MMO. Auto fire toggle is needed. Optional of course, I know some people do not like it.

There is an automatic pilot (usable in sector space via map and unfortunately with no option to disable mid-flight, and clicking (context action command) on an object [in space at least] triggers and autiopilot/autoengage routine - though honestly its very simple and not really working correctly [nor do I use it - actually get annoyed when if fires off].
The Follow, auto attack and AI functions are all present in the engine already - they're just not working together very well and the UI is an utter mess with the game design actually putting more strain on UI functionality (which makes various problems worse).
To OP: I'm all in support of that, (I'm just looking to use the Weapons Control panel as essentially a switch on/off panel for the various weapons and have the Auto-Fire toggle/maintain work with the panel via Fire all weapons, Fire all torpedoes, fire all phasars).
Wouldn't mind getting the shield distribution to be cyclic behavior modes (essentially working just like power distribution as well - no clue why Power panel right next to it can work one way and not be able to have Shield distribution function the same way).
Though it does seem Cryptic/Atari would just make critters/mobs easy enough to make any of that irrelavant rather than fix the problem.

You can just start moving the ship yourself to cancel autopilot...
Hey Devs I /Agree Need auto fire. Let me focus on specials, power, and flight. Unless you want this to be a stand and slash like WOW. If so were is my Phasers of the Whale?
The game is engaging the way it is right now without auto fire. If you implement auto fire back in the game, it takes the engaging aspect away. Also, it will force the people, who doesn't like auto fire, to enable it to keep up with everybody in DPS as auto fire is OP(over powered).
AUTO FIRE must not be implemented back to the game. The Dev Team took this out and I'm sure their reasons behind it are more convincing than mine.

Um, hate to tell you but Auto-Fire IS in game (space at least). If you don't use it and like it, great for you. Most of us here don't like tapping a single key repeatedly and would prefer a toggle or just to hold said key down.

Here is an approx dialogue from Arena:
Kirk: Full Power to Phasers. Lock all banks on target. SET TO FULL COMPUTER CONTROL for firing.
Amazing how much technology the Federation has lost in 100 years. :P
Really? will try that, TY. I remapped the space turn/pitch controls to numpad and never use them (steer with mouse completely in space).
