Please bring back ground auto-fire!

Ground combat really needs the auto-fire ability returned. Doing away missions is painful right now because of all the button mashing.

    Agreed. I don't see why this was taken out. I'm hoping it's a bug.

    Eh, I never used it because half the time it blocked using anything else.

    Agreed. I don't see why this was taken out. I'm hoping it's a bug.

    It's not. It was actually removed several days before the end of beta along with the "always let me choose" instance option, those who had it enabled still did until they disabled it.

    Afaik Klingons never had ground auto fire. It never worked for me and I heard the same from many others. It could be that they were wanting to remove ground auto fire all together and only just now got around to removing it from the Federation?

    yeah it did no problems, My Klingon loved it.

    Id be satisfied if we could jam the button down and have it continue but its mash the button city atm and i just cant be arsed to play like that, i dont have to do it in space why the hell should i destroy my keyboard and my 7 remaining fingers (long story) for ground combat.

    I played with this function all through beta and it was almost stealth'd away at the last patch pre launch im really not happy but there's nothing i can do about it its just another reason not to play dirtside.

    Definately would like auto attack ground weapons again. My finger gets burn out.

    Yes, please put the ground auto-fire back in, now ground combat is tedious instead of fun.

    you do have to do it in space, as soon as your using more than 1 for and aft weapon you want to auto fire.

    BUTTON MASHING IS NOT THE WAY TO PLAY A MMO! it seams that cryptic have heard of our issues, and gone in the other direction, not impressed at all

    Na i got to Captain in my science vessel on one for one aft beam weapon and torps/mines so i was broadsiding then turning in or away from my target and letting it have it, Granted its a massive slap in the kisser if your going Escort or Cruiser with loads of slots front and back your gonna need new hands and keyboards every few weeks.

    Which is why im working towards playing a Science vessel and hoping to hell there is a 'change of heart' on the auto-fire before i reach admiral :D

    they got similar number of slots ..in ter 1 and 2 its not that huge a deal as you can go 1 for 1 aft + torpedoes/mines (assuming your not flying escort) but the second you in ter 3 + you have to be like the rest of us and use a macro to attack.
    Now its on ground as well, no idea how anyone could think spamming a button ever two seconds is a idea of a fun game.

    Just logging in now after the stream TRIBBLE up of needing to re-dl (which is why these posts i seam in a bad mood :P) isn't there a vocied section in the tutorial which says "to enable auto fire right click on the attack" ?!?!?

    Oh yes please bring auto-attack back!

    I know it sometimes blocked specials, but mashing the 2 button till you get sniper shot (or whatever) of when you want to use it, is still better than mashing the 1 button all the time.
    Ideally make any other skill overwrite auto-attack and execute it as the next attack.

    Oh yes, and space too, let us have auto-attack on more than 1 front/aft weapons please!

    Yep there are several of these threads now as this is a big issue.

    bring it back or at the very least if its removed respond and tell us why.

    So far the running theory i heard is that its not coded well and it stops you from using your special attacks. Ok so be it. I saw that a bit in OB and i still would rather have a imperfect autofire over no auto fire. If i really have a problems getting my specials off i just wont use the AF.

    I think the problem is you have to use the special just at the right moment after the auto-fire is cooling down, so worst thing is you might have to spam it for a second or so before it triggers.

    Far better that than have to spam EVERYthing constantly.

    Auto fire was removed due to an exploit where players would afk and autofire would keep targeting respawned mobs and killing them allowing players to grind XP while afk.

    Pretty stupid reason as those players that are exploiting it for experience would simply just need to create a macro that self executed constantly.. ie startreks famous "recursive algorithms"

    All I know is that now my hand hurts after a day of gaming and I'm pretty sure my spacebar's lifespan has been cut in half... Ground combat already takes too long compared to space, this button mashing has to change... sigh

    damn, Its typical tho a few freaks ruin it for the rest of us and still exploit the system using a different method /sigh Thanks for that information tho. Im a bit disturbed the devs said nothing as to why as were all shouting and moaning both out here and in game too a simple 'it was being used to exploit' isn't much to say in ONE of the many threads on this issue.:(

    It's worse than that, the dev's should fix the mob farming, not break the buttons. In CoH, when you killed a mob in a mission it would *stay* dead. If everything is instanced here, then there is no reason for this to not be the case now.

    I would also very much like the auto-fire option back for ground combat. I'm surprised that there are not more complaints about this.

    I certainly don't like how they fixed the autofire interfering with activating other powers. Let's just get rid of autofire....brilliant.

    The autofire was a hinderance more than anything, it made using other skills a pain in the TRIBBLE, oh but wait, all you guys want to do is activate auto-fire and spam the special weapon attacks, using other skills is surely too complex for you, right?

    As for "destroying" your keyboard, unless you're a spastic and pressing the fire button with your head there is no reason why pressing a button every couple seconds is that difficult.
