    well, it's more of a nickname for the people (mostly humans) unable to pronounce his real name (plus it fits the LCARS better)

    **History File**
    Born as "Johnson Gra'mog Fullis" into the Maquis. His Parents were a a half-Klingon and a half-Vulcan. He was trained to be an Engineer by them at an early age and they tried to teach him to hate and love the things his parents did... he however hated his life on their ship and he hated his parents so he took his family Bat'leth and a liberated Type F Shuttle and left to start his new life in the UFoP.
    He legally changed his name to "John" because he wanted nothing to do with his Vulcan or Klingon or even his Maquis Heritage. His Engineering skills made him a skilled student at Starfleet Academy and he was rushed through and given a post on the U.S.S. Ravaged Land as Chief Engineer as an Ensign; something that has only been done a few times before in Federation History.
