Any event compensation for victims of the hurricanes?

Through no fault of their own due to the hurricanes, one of my fleet members was without power for 8 days, and as such, is going to miss completing the current event by one day.

There are some people that are still without power as I write this.

It seems a bit unfair to those affected, so is there any chance that the event can be extended a bit to to help them?

Unlikely, as they have never done anything like that before, as far as I can remember. Events have only been extended due to something which was at fault of Cryptic or it's related processes. As the game has one server, per platform, that serve the entire world, not just the US, you would find many more such requests every time there was an outage somewhere in the world, if Cryptic started extending events due to something beyond their control.

Events can be bought out though.

In the past I was affected by a hurricane and was without power during an event. Luckly, we have a gas generator so I was able to get the daily finished by playing on my laptop and using my cellphone as a hotspot to connect to the internet. For many this might not be an option but for some it might.

That is unfortunate for those people, but as already stated, Cryptic has not and cannot extend events for issues beyond their control, as they would always be extending events due to something happening somewhere in the world. Also as stated, the buyout option is there and can help those who missed out on or missed days of an event. So, those affected by the hurricane have that option as well. As this is the answer to this question, and further debate would be pointless, I am closing this thread to prevent potential argument. /thread
