B'rel retrofit build?

So, I have a B'rel retrofit (tier 5) that I'm having some difficulty with. It is pretty flimsy, but that's to be expected. However, it also just doesn't do much damage, and that's an issue. I also have a retrofit T'Varo, which is similarly equipped (plasma instead of disruptors, but otherwise the same), but it seems to do MUCH better.

I usually build my ships for durability, but that doesn't seem to be possible with this ship, so I'm outside my realm of knowledge.

So, I'm interested to know, how are people arming and crewing this ship? I'm somewhat limited in what gear I can put on it, so try to restrict the advice to items that are readily available (eg. regular or rep equipment, which I can still get - ultramegasilly rare items are no use, as there's no way for me to get them).

Likewise, traits. Again, the rep and basic traits are generally all I'll have available to me.

Any thoughts are welcome.
Once, I was simply called Mojo. Now, I'm forced into a new name, but don't be fooled, I'm the original STO Mojo!

This game needs detailed crafting, exploration and interaction systems.

    I think the ship is always going to feel a bit "light" by nature, but with raider flanking and an enhanced battle cloak it should do pretty well providing it's set up to do as much damage as possible.

    Light ships like this aren't meant to "slug it out" with the bad guys so they have to rely upon other things.

    I use dual (heavy) cannons front and turrets rear exclusively on raiders and escorts as their high spike damage makes for a quick fight.

    Would have to agree that it's not possible to build a ship like this for durability, but it should be very possible to build a nice disruptor cannon based B'rel using mission rewards and reputation items.

    Here's a sample bridge officer layout for the B'rel for your consideration..

    Cmdr Universal (Tac) - Tactical Team 1, Attack Pattern Beta 1, Torpedo Spread 3 or Cannon Rapid Fire 2, Cannon Scatter Volley 3

    LtC Universal (Science) - Polarize Hull 1 or Science Team 1, Hazard Emitters 2, Photonic Officer 2

    Lt Universal (Engineering) - Emergency Power to Engines 1, Emergency Power to Weapons 2

    Lt Universal (Engineering) - Engineering Team 1, Auxiliary to Structural Integrity Field 1 or Reverse Shield Polarity 1

    PO 2 --> EPtW 2 --> APB 1 --> CSV 3

    (plus lots of decloaking and flanking)
