Energy Field Gradient Projector analysis stacks falling off?

I was messing around with a build based around 5x Energy Field Gradient Projectors and stacking the Analysis buff, and it stacks up to 6 or so, then falls off. I didn't die or switch maps, just testing in 9th rule. Am I doning something wrong? are these bugged? I'm killing plenty of ships while they are drained and it goes back up decently quick, but then falls off again.
