For some time now, my main character has proudly commanded the Prometheus-class USS Macaria, which (apart from being upgraded with Dyson Sphere technology from its time in the Delta Quadrant) has had its tactical systems completely optimized for combat involving the class's famous Multi-Vector Assault Mode. You, too, can enjoy the benefits of having one ship split into three and ganging up on an unprepared foe by following these guidelines!
- It helps to enter MVAM shortly before engaging the enemy, when you're about to enter weapons range. Make sure you've already picked a target.
- If you're using macros, have a macro set aside for all your phaser and torpedo damage-related abilities, because these actually transfer over to the other vectors (Prometheus pets). If you activate Beams: Overload II, so will they! The other vectors have their own attack patterns, however, and they'll show up from time to time during combat.
- If you're already in MVAM, but the enemy is at a distance, stop all engines, target the enemy, and hit your fire controls. If the enemy is close enough (15-20km is the recommended limit), the other vectors will veer off and move to engage on their own. Once they reach their target and open fire, you can engage impulse engines and join them.
- A general rule of thumb is to just keep an eye on the vectors (although this can be rather difficult in heavy combat) and don't let them lag behind you while travelling from point A to point B in large maps. Don't forget to reintegrate if one or both vectors gets too banged up!
