Epic Games Giveaway and Question

So, Epic is doing some kind of giveaway for some free stuff, but I don't know how to get the stuff in-game...

There's software that needs to be downloaded, I get that... I did, now how to I get Epic to realize that I already have STO installed and don't want to install it again?

    don't think you can, but you can always download it to a new location, get the stuff and delete. you MIGHT be able to point it to the existing directory and the game updated will auto complete

    You can't link your Arc account to Epic anymore, so unless you linked accounts during the brief window that was supported, you not only need to install a second copy of the game but make an entirely new STO account to use with Epic with none of your stuff.

    but yes had to install a 2nd copy of game

    I completely missed the opportunity to link my account because by the time I found out about it it had already ended.

    I went in and bought the free items, so they are in there somewhere... Somewhere in the Epic store... If I ever figure out how to get the items, at least they will be there... lol...

    I thought I was going to need two separate STO installations but Epic somehow found my existing files and didn't try to redownload the whole game. The giveaways I claimed over the past few years but couldn't use are now visible in my promotions tab. I'm very happy about this.

    Seems that the Epic giveaway has expired in the UK by the way - at least I can't find it anymore.

    I successfully linked my Arc to Epic. However, the promotion is gone. Next time, I guess?

    I still can't link my account as I already made a newer one directly from the epic games version of the launcher, doesn't have a way to change it it seems.

    Word on Reddit is that linking doesn't work yet again, and they only allowed linking for a few days. Supposition is that it wasn't supposed to work then, but was something with the new launcher and/or season turned linking back on by accident.
