Diplomacy boff and uniforms

mudhut#3231 mudhut Member Posts: 16 Arc User
Hey all, just a question. My brother is playing a fed and he just got his diplomacy boff. He’s annoyed that he can’t put the boff in a fed uniform.

I told him the reason is it’s an officer from a different nation just assigned to your crew. Not unlike when I was in Iraq and assigned to an Iraqi unit for a bit. I didn’t put on their uniform, I wore mine. Same as if I was assigned to a French or English unit. I wouldn’t wear their uniform either.

Just wanted to confirm that’s the reason. Thanks all!

That would be the official explanation, indeed...

In truth, though? Considering there are so many uniforms out there that are cross-factions, I don't get why the devs were never able to give those diplomatic BOFFs access to proper Starfleet uniforms to start with.

I have to agree with you there. We can dress up anyway we please so it seems silly to restrict those boffs but I figured the reason was they were from a different nation.

He also asked me why o don’t color code my crew for when we are on the ground. I told him I wasn’t going to make it easy for some enemy sniper to take out the leader. He asked me if the game actually does that. I laughed and said no. It’s just the Army side of me I can never get rid of. I told him “you play as a scientist, explore strange new worlds and the like, I’m a Klingon general from the Klingon military”. So while he switches uniforms to match what is happening (dress uniform for those meetings with the big names) I have two settings. Full honor guard helmet on and off. Lol. I keep telling him to play however he wants. As long as we are having fun.

Exactly! As long as you aren't causing problems for others (like intentionally failing TFOs or being offensive in chat) the point is to have fun, whatever makes that happen for you.

That's the point of any game, single player or MMO, is to have fun.

No one's fun is wrong if it's fun for them and no one has the right to ruin anyone else's fun. What I like to do may not be what someone else likes to do and that's fine. If we were all the same the world would be a very dull place indeed.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything. :D

Aye, the Diplomacy & Marauding bridge officers are part of the officer exchange program.

It's kinda based on that TNG episode from season 2, "A Matter of Honor" in which Riker serves aboard a Klingon Bird of Prey, but maintains his Starfleet uniform throughout.

Similarly, in the Season 3 episode "Sins of the Father", we see Kurn taking a turn on the Enterprise but he remains in his Klingon uniform throughout.

Yeah, playing with my bro this weekend he just ended up adding a Klingon and RP’ing it’s a member of my crew for when he plays alone. I think that’s pretty cool. Still not adding a Feddy to mine. Ewww! 😂

I too wish that they could wear the same Starfleet uniform as the rest of my crew. I get around it by giving them the Alliance uniform, which they can wear - it's not perfect, but it's the best I can do.

I think that was only available for a limited time though, so it may not be of any use to your brother. Maybe there are other outfits that are 'kind of' similar to a Starfleet uniform?

They can also wear the "terran spec ops" outfit that came with the 12th anniversary bundle
