Console PSA: PS5 (and I assume Xbox Series S/X) fixes the horrible tailor performance on PS4, Xb1

On my old PS4 and Xbox One X (not Series X) the tailor loading of the different screens is horribly slow, like make a cup of tea, Earl Grey, hot, slow. I even added a USB-connected SSD to the Xb1X and it made no difference.

I received an xmas + birthday gift of the discless PS5 from my brother, and finally tried STO with it last week and it's night and day. The PS5 loads the tailor like on a PC, not like a turtle dipped in molasses.

It's the same network connection and I can go back and forth between the consoles so it really is a difference between generations.

Moral of the story? If you play STO on console and still have a PS4 or original Xb1, you want the PS5 or Xbox Series. For the Xbox, the X is much better than the S. For the PS5 the main difference between models is the blu-ray drive.

I have the Series S and X, and I'll say this, unless you have a 4k enabled TV there is little need for the X, the S runs extremely well on a 1080p TV, and you can not tell the difference between STO performance on either system. They are both wickedly fast. If you are on a budget, get the S, you are not missing out on much over the X and PS5.

If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

When I was on the Xbox One X it started getting really slow up to a minute before each selection, Head, Body or Uniform would show and it was only getting worse. When I upgraded to the Series X the speed dramatically increased. Now lately that too has started to slow down and there is this annoying glitch where you move the cursor to Body and instead of landing on it, it instead jumps to uniform. If you try and select Uniform it jumps straight down to Save and if you click too soon it will save and back out out of the tailor so you have to start again. Trying to get it to land on the right option is becoming a major skill in itself, with you having to time your button presses before it jumps to the next option.
