Most traits tend to enhance the ship they come from.
The T6 Yamato Dreadnought Cruiser (and the Legendary version) comes with "Subsystem Redundancies" which enhances its' Lance & Beam abilities.
It's worth noting that the Yamato Dreadnought is a ship most likely to be built with Beam weapons.

There's plenty other ships that are most often built with Cannon weapons that come with a cannon-centric trait.
A prime example here is the T6 Valiant Tactical Escort, which comes with the trait "Withering Barrage" that enhances cannon weapons, but not beams.
