Re-Engineering crafted Space Set Aegis

Was there particular reason the Aegis set is unable to be re-engineered?
was it overlooked because of its age?

I know some of the older rep sets can at least have their shields re-engineered
why not poor neglected Aegis?

    because Aegis was added long before re-engineering, and the devs never bothered to make it so

    Besides that, my guess is that the set is mostly used for the visuals and as hand-me-down starter gear for a new alt, so not many owners of the set care about the stats and haven't requested it.

    This is true, but so was the Borg set. Yet the Assimilated Regenerative Shield can be re-engineered (but not the REST of the set)
    this could have by request or even for testing purposes I guess

    I agree, but why add it to other older sets (or at least the shields of older sets) ?
    Aegis would make sense to be able to be re-engineered considering it is a crafted set.

    Maybe it will be revamped if the crafting system is re-worked....again
