Man you mistaken this post for the one i've created earlier today and there i've already explained that the rep dil is worthless. Let me take you trough it slowly, so you understand... There are rep items, that are worth making and upgrading and the massive majority of rep project stuff just isn't. And no, it's not about a different style of gameplay, it's just that some items are so ridiculously inferior to the "good" stuff, that it would be just idiotic to craft and upgrade them - it's just junk. Now that we have established, that most of reputation project items are garbage, lets move to the next point. I have a main character, i run the reputation to tier 6 and buy out the acc wide reputation discount - with the new REPUTATION VOUCHERS, isn't that awesome? No man, it's not awesome, because now every next character has a huge pile of useless purple rocks, that's worth only half a pile of useless purple rocks. And before you ask: i have multiple characters for a simple reason: i own around 150 ships and every alt has it's own ship, setup with epic gear, you name it. It's just easier that way, because if i wan't to change a setup on an alt - all my traits get messed up :) and most of the time i have to manualy move gear from ship to ship, which is all a huge waste of my time :). Yeah, i'm done here.

Actualy no, i'm not. I do agree on one thing: they DID have a good intention in fixing the dil problem. But it wasn't thought trough and it's lazy. Sorry, it's just how it is.

I know we are going in circles.

By the sounds of it your done with Reputation on your "main" toon and all your alt toons... so how exactly does this effect you ?

Also the good or bad of reputation gear is not up to you to decide. Every rep has very usable items. There are at least 4 major weapons for cannon builds... at least as many for beam builds. Consoles.... multiple torpedo's that end up on every torpedo build. Ground devices... If people can't spend it all in one shot that is fine. Sit on the pool what's the big deal. Who knows in a year you might decide to try a torp boat instead, or a switch to cannons ect. When you do you have dill to cover the costs.

I don't subscribe to this silly idea... that reputation only has a couple usable items. That is just not reality.

i have been playing this game for many years , and i have never seen someone (or a group of) so intensely wanted to terminate a game.

I just sincerely hope that if there is a starterk online 2 , one day , YOU (pw) will not be at the helm.

You know how to avoid this?

    DON'T DO TRIBBLE LIKE THIS!

First reverse this stupid idea and note i said the IDEA is stupid not the devs.

But what the devs SHOULD do is before doing anything like this play the game as a player. No dev bonuses. no money just a F2P player so see how the game runs.

I play world of warships. some time ago they brought in a new ship that people could grind to get. but the grind was INSANE. and during a livestgream they were asked if devs could try to grind it like a player to prove it can be done. they refused saying they are too busy to do that. So what makes them thinks the players do? It was the huge PR disaster they never really recovered from and keep making similar mistakes.

again just have a dev to a few play the game as a f2p toon and see it from our POV.

Sometimes it helps when someone as highly exhalted as a dev reduces themselves (in the practical sense) down to a dirt-poor plebeian with no financial resources, and does what we normally do here in the field, in order for them to get some perspective of what it means to be at the bottom of the food-chain.

It's too bad you couldn't make the vouchers spendable on either Rep Gear or Fleet projects; but yeah, it just means you'll have players with a bunch of toons that have unused vouchers taking up database space on your Cryptic STO SAN as there isn't a lot of great Rep gear to spend it on even when you're gearing a new toon.

I'm also sure the was a big Al Rivera suggestion because he loves to punish the playerbase for not playing the game like he believes they would when they design something.

Maybe instead of doing that the development teak should come up with some more Dilithium sinks that players would find worthwhile and useful <--- But hey, that would require a real understanding of how the playerbase PLAYS the game -- and god forbid, that maybe the Devs should be required to make an outside account without instant access to everything via special console commands and PLAY their own game to get an idea of how it plays for a real/actual customer.

Sorry, but a lot of the Dilithium design and correction decisions of late show that the majority of Cryptic's STO development team hasn't done that (played their game like an actual player customer, for years.)

There have been at least two good suggestions from the playerbase at large that I think the Dev Team doesn't think are good BECAUSE the Dev Team really no longer knows how/why the playerbase uses Dilithium as they do -- because the Devs don't really PLAY their own game.

It just amazes me that (if programmer time is precious) that they waste it on what may be seen by some as a somewhat punative or dilithium gating measure instead of implementing some of the better suggestions, OR actually designing more decent dilithium sinks.

Creating more types of gated dilithium is a poor choice as this game as too many types of in game currencies and not enough good sinks for those currencies.

and the fact they did this with little warning is really suspect

Y'all are making a lot of assumptions here. The devs DO have player accounts and DO play the game like everyone else.

Also, go back and watch the recent live stream about this change and pay attention to what Bort says about things he's willing to consider along with this change. It's also mentioned that this is only part of the process. Other changes are coming along with an acknowledged need for better sinks.

Man you guys being so upset.... tells me you must have had some pretty sweet farms setup. lol

This is a good change... and addresses the hands down BIGGEST by far issue with the dill exchange.

Come on all the... there is no rep stuff worth buying claims are hilarious. When countered you come back with the devs don't know how to play ! Again come on...

I don't buy anyone being upset about their new found Reputation pool.... or the claims of I got nothing to spend that dill on. Well then sit on it...
But but the server is going to be over taxed storing that one number in everyones database. You have 250,000 reputation pool remaining. Man ya that is going to kill the servers... I mean its going to be way worse then 1000s of players deleting and rolling new toons daily to add to their grinder setups.

The devs may have gaps in knowledge here and there folks but they are not actually stupid. I don't think.

So just don't delete your toons anymore... and keep playing them hard. Surely you must understand how much dill the rep rewards have been flooding into the market.

All the talk about Sinks sinks sinks is complete and utter BS. Crytpic sells 3-5 thousand dollars in Zen every single day that gets sold to other players for purple rocks. The sinks we have actually work... the problem is the insane amount of dill being flooded. The reputation payouts made running big farms too easy. Lets all be honest now... playing a couple toons every month to level 11 then power leveling and doing rep with reclaim rewards wasn't exactly hard. Then spending 2 months just logging in every day for 10s to refine and log out till you delete and clear the toon slot... was the reward I guess for that hard 1-11 leveling work ?

who said i did. and most I might have deleted a toon or 2 early on. but each to i create i use. not just for farming. but to do somethign different. i have a KDF toon that is a BOP main. I have fun with that and i dil grind among them all for zen. and this takes MONTHS of commitment. let's see try to get 200 k rep dilithium accross 10 toons.

I think the saddest part of all this is that most of the people, that are in uproar, truly believe these changes are going in the wrong direction and it's hurting the game we all love. I help new players, i'd say whenever i see a question in our fleet/armada chat. When it comes down to gear, i always tell them which rep gear is best for their builds or in general and that they should get it as soon as they have it available. Now if someone asks, it will be the same answer, but with the adition of "yeah but wait 2 months, untill you have reputation at tier 5, otherwise you're just wasting dilithium".

    Fair enough.

Well explain your play style for me like I'm just a dirty minded exploiter always seeing how things can be goosed.

Ok sorry that sounds snarky. Seriously explain to me how this effects you if your a long time player with lots of toons that hit T5 AGES ago.... or if your an actual newer player who is going to be playing your alts and end up naturally with more unrefined dill then you can refine as a result anyway ?

I really am curious cause it seems to me people must all play a lot differently then I do... and I admit that is very possible. The way I play... and the circle of friends I keep probably is very different then most of you.

I really am curious cause it seems to me people must all play a lot differently then I do... and I admit that is very possible. The way I play... and the circle of friends I keep probably is very different then most of you.

Again, you're making assumptions of me. I'm not a "long-time player." I only started playing this game on the Fall of 2019. The most amount of dilithium I have on any of my characters doesn't even exceed 80K (just 2 out of the 15 of my characters), and all of that will be going into the 10-pack Phoenix Prize Boxes for the upgrade tokens.

...and if you're going to continue to be snarky after this post, then I think it's wise that you and I end our conversation here.

I work hard for what i do. something taking. MONTHS. having that rep boost was nice. this is a bad move. for a game that doesn't need it

Dude I have 38 or 39 toons (not the max some folks hit) I have never deleted any of them either. Everyone of my toons has been T5 for years so this doesn't effect me. Guess what I also tend to refine 8k a day on everyone of them when I'm playing... so ya 304k in Dill daily is what I collect. Am I part of the problem... sort of. I don't consider myself part of the problem cause hey what I do means I play for 3-4 hours every day. People farming the same or more then I do with a 10 minute click through and power leveling a couple new toons a few times a month actually rubs me the wrong way. 11 years in I have spent more then my share of money... when I have time I earn rocks, when I don't ya I spend some money.

In your case it sounds to me like if you only have 10 toons... you have plenty of ways to easily earn 8k a day per toon. Its not that hard to feed a 10 toon dill pool. What we should all not want is people logging in for two seconds for 3-4 months and refining the max on that toon daily based on a rep reward system.

What are you talking about? Marks don't fall from the sky, you need to play the game to earn them. Play alot.

I allready made a suggestion (Add all Past Event Rewards - Devices, Items, Boffs, Doffs, Ships - to the Dill Store as Account Unlocks and let us by them with Dillithium) but another suggestion that some here also mentioned in one form or other would be those vouchers... tied to the rep sets alone makes those vouchers useless, a new player who will finish all those reps will have a huge amount of Rep Dill...so what is he now going to buy a dozen of Rep Sets with that or what??

So my Suggestion would be, PLEASE consider changing it to something like a "Universal Voucher" that than can be used for Rep Sets, Rep Stores, Fleet Projects and Fleet Stores, this would make it a million times more usefull, would still take it out from the flooded dill market AND significantly less People would complain! Try to do the "right thing" for once and listen to your playerbase IF you have to do that change!

    Yeah, that or a dil/fleet dil/rep dil --> fleet dil/rep dil exchange.

Have you never rolled a recruit ?
Even if you have only done a few of them... you earn all the marks you need to hit T5 without ever playing.

As I have explained... the painful part of this loophole exploit mechanic whatever we want to call the old T5 Dill rewards.
Some people where starting a couple new toons a month... and playing them to Level 11. Then you take a handful of Lockbox duty officer missions... and you power level them to 65 (which is about 2 days due to time gates but about 2 min of clicking). Then you claim your reclaim boxes... and start doing rep every day. (The lockbox duty missions solve any skill point issues easily cause they reward 10s of thousands of skill points). 20 days later... you have T5 rewards... and your toon is still in the same gear they where in at level 1. From there you just refine and log out..... convert all your elite marks ect. Depending how lucky you got with gear boxes rewarding elite marks and the like you sunset that toon over 60-90 days... having refined 500-600k in dill. When that toon hits zero... DELETE.

If that isn't how you where playing ok.... I'm not saying everyone was doing that. However enough where doing exactly that... to be an issue. Again folks for all the talk of sinks. 3-5 THOUSAND dollars a day are spent by STO players buying dilithium from other players. The sinks are working. The supply is the issue. More sinks would be great sure... but claiming supply isn't an issue seems a bit disingenuous.

Wait @husankx are you supporting this change, because you're actualy some sort of snobby grinder, who's angry at people who have it easier, than you?

lol no I support this change cause its what the game needs.
I was simply pointing out... like many MMOs this game has ways to play for "free" or lower cost, if your willing to play a ton.
The T5 rep rewards... being the way they have been (for a long time no doubt) made it far too easy for people to casually grind.

All the talk about not enough sinks not enough sinks... is BS. Dill has been to easy to farm... that is the issue. I am not suggesting we shouldn't be able to farm dill. Of course its what this games economy is based on and Cryptic makes thousands of dollars on the system directly every single day. The issue was clear to anyone being honest.

Ask yourself what would you rather see Cryptic do... Sinks are NOT going to fix anything. They never where the game has sinks. As I see it they had a few real options. One was to close up some of these loop holes that made mass grinding far to easy. The other was to do something even more drastic an unpopular like an account refine limit in the 40-80k range or something. Of the two options I say ya restrain the supply... let people that have hours to play be rewarded... stop rewarding people playing for 10 min a day, they add nothing to the game.
